Next: Training for Neighbours
Hi all,
As mentioned in the previous post, this training blog will be used to keep you updated on all things related to training redevelopment. It will also be used as a common space to take your questions and feedback, so please make sure you let me know what's on your mind!
Neighbours on NABUUR have never been formally trained, although they do have access to user guides which explain the NABUUR process. While we'd rather not make the training for Neighbours mandatory, it will be strongly encouraged and they will have access to information that the other user groups (i.e. Facilitators and Local Reps) are learning, albeit in a less comprehensive manner.
User Group: Neighbours
Training:Optional (though encouraged)
User guides will be available from the training section of the NABUUR website and maybe even Neighbours' user profiles. These guides will basically be 'scripts' which will contain information on:
- Getting started on NABUUR.com and maximizing your participation
- Project management on NABUUR (explaining how a project is defined, tips for working on a project, collaborating with the team, etc.)
- Cultural Awareness and Intercultural Communication (Cultural awareness quiz, country guides, etc.)
- Website Navigation
Each guide will have an emphasis on the role of the Neighbour.
I know we have many Neighbours browsing the demo site...Do you think the above covers what you would like to know about NABUUR and running an online project?
Looking forward to your comments!
Romina

Hi Romina, just wanted to add my two cents worth! I think some training for Neighbours on Nabuur style project management will be very helpful. It's a bit difficult to get the whole idea when you are new to Nabuur and haven't had a go with a task.
I especially like the idea of cross cultural awareness raising. In some situations this would be very helpful in communicating with the local rep.
It will be difficult to get everyone to do the training but i guess those who are motivated will go for it, and htose who are feeling a bit lost can perhaps complete one or two sections sections of the training. If they were set up as modules then the new Neighbour can pick and choose which bit she wants to do.

It makes a lot of sense to have training available for Neighbours as well as local reps and facilitators. I think having links or buttons to some short sharp "show me" tutorials would be very useful. It's not such a big job to create this kind of material any more. I'm happy to have a go when the new site is ready for launch.
