Estimate the Cost for Building a Small Cooperative Store-Warehouse

Step:
1

In order for the cooperative to buy and sell rice, it will need a store and warehouse. The property is owned by Hope Center (a non-profit compassion ministry). The cooperative would like to build a small store-warehouse on the property.

I have just asked someone to survey the property and provide dimensions so that an architect could draw a master plan and an engineer could give us a list of materials. I will post the dimensions within the next few days.

Organising and Supervising the Kimilili Clean Water Project

Step:
2

The work in Kimilili Clean Water Project is as follows:

  1. Identifying locations of a new water sources, either spring or well (they must serve more than ten families)
  2. If spring water, reconstruct or reroute water to enable sufficient drainage of water
  3. Build reservoir
  4. If well water, drill down to the water source
  5. Install a water pumping engine
  6. Install pipes so the water can flow freely

Collect Information on Health Awareness Campaigns

Step:
1

Fred and the members of HICA identified several health care issues in their responses to the "We Can Do" project definition tool. Among these issues were Malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning, and good hygiene/sanitation.

For this task, I would like to begin collecting information on various health awareness campaigns that we can share with the HICA members. Health awareness and education campaigns are one way that HICA can begin realizing better overall health and make an immediate impact in their community.

Providing Electrical Power to the School

Step:
2

The community wishes to provide electrical power to the school. In the short term of one year, we shall need to acquire a diesel electric generator as well as solar pannels for generation of
power.

In the medium (after one year) and long-term, Bukoggolwa Secondary School will be connected to the main hydro-electric power supply line 1 kilometre away( the costs will be computed). The latter is relatively cheaper for sustainable development.

Search for Organizations willing to donate a power generator and/or solar pannels

Step:
1

Search and make a list of organizations willing to donate a power generator and/or solar pannels for the use of the community centre.

Ideas for heating (alternative heating ideas are welcome)

REVIEW drinking water proposal

Step:
1

The students at the school in Gamauli presently have no access to clean drinking water while at school. It causes many of them to leave after a few hours in the classroom.

During Min's recent visit to the school, he met with a merchant in the local market and discussed piping water from the market to the school. The cost estimates are attached.

We are asking volunteers with experience in engineering to look over the proposal and make any suggestions or ask any questions that the proposal may bring to mind. We do have a possible donor to help fund the completion of the project.
