Share Resources and Successful Poultry Farming Techniques

Status: Just started

Another area that CAPEC is considering for income-generation on Bitame Lucia Nursery School grounds is poultry farming. This is again something that many villages at Nabuur have incorporated into their projects. For this task, we are seeking examples of successful poultry farming techniques and best practices. We plan to use this information to write up a basic project plan, so please summarize your findings.

The hope is that income generated from this and the other projects will support building a proper toilet and a playground to improve the school grounds.

Hi everybody,

I shortly talked today with Emmanuel. He reassured me that the spotted goat also was of good quality :)

He sent me the updated poultry budget provisions and asked me to post it here, since his Internet connection is very slow at the moment. (therefore also answers are more rare since access to Nabuur.com seems difficult).

Comparing the costs to the previous one, they were even a bit less than projected, which is great.
Andrew, would you have the time to include the new data in your provision? Thanks.

Maria

Hi everybody,

Hope you had a nice week-end. I am back from Scotland, and wow, Wakitaka has been so busy. I had so much fun looking at the pictures you took, Emmanuel. The white-black goat is actually my favorite one:) Haven´t seen any so funny sheep in Scotland:)
I hope that the goats and chicks are fine and that the youths will soon see the first results of all their work. Good luck!!! If I remember well, Emmanuel told us in the chat with Sonia that the goats were old enough for breeding. Am I right, Emmanuel?

Hi Emmanuel-

Happy New Year! It sounds like the youth have already done some research about what they want to do. If goats and poultry are the things that they believe would be most successful, I would suggest developing a business plan around those ideas. I know you've already started with the chickens, has anyone started with goats? Are these goats used for milk?

Have the youth formed any type of cooperative farming group?

All the best-

Jennifer

Hi Emmanuel-

I have been reading through the information you have posted and was wondering if you could provide some additional information about the poultry enterprise that you are currently working on. Are the chickens boilers? for eggs? breeding to sell?

Is food typically grown for the chickens or purchased? Are you looking toward expanding and developing the poultry business first, or looking toward other options?

Jennifer
