Posts about electricity
It appears that there is no electricity in the region from the electricity distribution system, but if this is available, the local authorities could be contacted to provide the necessary cabling to connect the school with the distribution system.
In case this is not feasible, solar energy is a cheap option, where only initial costs are involved and operating costs are negligible. The hardware will include solar photo-voltaic (SPV) modules and associated equipment.
A search on nabuur for 'solar' might reveal clues about likely sources of supply in your region, costs, donors, etc.
Worldschool Assignment - Thread for Kim, Lisanne, Aniek and Iris

Our Project formally began in 2003 when the Vision of uplifting the OVCs and the vulnerable souls was registered as Maria Mother of Charity Relief Home.
We supported the children into different schools and at different levels from Kindergarten education to colleges, and University. Our first child to sponsor was Clapton Mulenga who was sent to Kasama College of Education and graduated as a Basic School Teacher. It was so nice to see him come and do his Teaching Practice at our charity school in 2005 when it was opened. He is now in the Teaching Fraternity, and able to support his family.
Discuss and research options for bringing electricity (or another form of energy) to the School

We would like to brainstorm all feasible options for bringing electricity to the school.
Search for Organizations willing to donate a power generator and/or solar pannels

Search and make a list of organizations willing to donate a power generator and/or solar pannels for the use of the community centre.
I am asking about a power source for the school because I know they have none. If I am able to establish contact with Engineers without Borders I want to present the school situation accurately in order to gain the best advice possible. Power does not only have to come from electricity-so it's very possible the group may have other ideas that could be cost-effective. At minimum, while we may not be able to address it immediately, I'd like to be able to get you a good recommendation for options to consider.
Hello everyone-
I wanted to provide a short update to let you know that things are still very difficult in Nepal due to the flooding that occurred. Tejanath was able to send me a few instant messages this week, but consistent access to electricity is still problematic. It has been over a month since Tejanath and I have been able to have a conversation due to the difficult situation.

Hi Sanne-
Great to hear from you and see how you are progressing. I am certain that Rev Teh will be checking in shortly to respond to your questions in more detail. I sent him your message via SMS. I will respond based on what I know:
1. I think that your question of using the building for multiple purposes is a good one. This may be a source of potential income during the time that school is out of session. I think it is definitely something worth consideration.
Having a kitchen at the school I also believe would be a good idea, but Rev Teh can speak to this better than I can.
