Hello Vijai,

Thank you very much for your input. We are in the process of beginning the micro-credit association, and it will be operated by the community. There are many SACCOs in Uganda and each is operating in its own way.

We therefore appreciate all the ideas that we can get to come up with something that is sustainable and affordable to all. I will pass on your ideas to my colleagues.

Regards,

Kaggwa

Can you help the Pellital Microfinance Institution design a marketing/promotional plan?

Pellital is a Microfinance Institution. The goal of Pellital is to aid in alleviating the poverty through a microfinance program in Agnam-Goly, Senegal. The word Pellital means "commitment" in Fulani, the language spoken in Agnam-Goly. In this rural village, microfinance opportunities have till now not been available to most of the inhabitants. The Pellital team's objective is to assist loan recipients in the successful planning and execution of small businesses that will propel the families of Agnam-Goly out of poverty.

Dear Wenjin Yuan,

do You know www.kiva.org? Kiva lets people all over the world lend money to microfinance-organizations. Its internetbased and to become official fieldpartner PARD might be

*Serve at least 1,000 borrowers with microfinance services
*Have a history (at least 2-3 years) of lending to poor, excluded, and/or vulnerable people for the purpose of alleviating poverty or reducing vulnerability
*Be registered as a legal entity in their country of operation
*Have at least 1 year of financial audits

Bramuel and I spoke on 2/15/09 about the options for the Medical Training Program and he provided more details about the establishment of a Sacco. Bramuel explained that a Sacco is a hospital financing organization. Every hospital is allowed to have one and they can then take loans from the Sacco once it has the money to be established. A Sacco functions basically as a financial partner to the hospital. The Sacco officers must be within the hospital and staff that run it must be from the hospital, but the Sacco can elect it's own individual board.

Hello Pastor Fred,
I was wondering if there is a MTN VillagePhone provider already in the Zabef area? If so- do you tink there is room for one more provider?
If not, let me know and I can follow up with MT Uganda about where the women in Zabef can become owners of this service (small business).

Below is some very brief information for those who have never heard of MTN VillagePhone. It orignated from Grammen Foundation in Bangaldesh:

Agnam-Goly (http://www.agnam-goly.org) is an ancient village bordering the Sahara desert in Senegal, West Africa. Its 3,143 inhabitants make a living from herding cattle and farming the banks of the Senegal river. The women of Agnam-Goly supplement their familes' incomes by running their own small enterprises. Most of them earn less than two dollars a day. That's what brings Julia (an American based volunteer) and I to think about how we could help the women of my village and we came about the idea to propose Facebook users to make micro loans to the entrepreneur women of Agnam-Goly:
