Discuss and research solar cookers and other green technologies

The village of Nabitende depend mostly on trees for their livelihood, feeding and energy. The trees are used for practically everything in their day to day lives; Charcoal, firewood, shelters, food etc.
Because of this high dependency on trees, a lot of trees are cut and none planted in replacement. This is causing severe depletion of the trees and if something is not done, the people of Nabitende face deforestation and subsequent loss of their major source of income.
All cooking is done on open wood and charcoal fires. Therefore solar cookers and other green technologies are needed.
Hi Mary,
Yes it was a very interesting trip!
I just spoke with Eric and he said the community is very keen on developing some uses for avocados. Lots of research needs to be done though.
As for solar cookers; yes I too remember a discussion, but not sure where :-(
I'll make sure Eric gets the phone numbers. He will hopefully be online all the time soon as he now has a laptop and will be getting a modem and connection for internet in his home.
Thanks!
Barb

You may need some technical person in carpentry you can learn from what we have. They are basically easy to make from wood/cardboard. We also have other energy saving equipment you may want to look at. Give us a call 0784466543.
