Posts about sports

During my chat with Norasco today, I asked him to tell me more about this particular project. One of the things they are hoping to achieve via the VH-LAHA Football Club is to develop the skills of the youth to the point they can earn a living by playing football. We talked about the important role that sports clubs can play in terms of outreach efforts, but I did express concern to Norasco that the goal of employment via playing sports is not something readily achievable by all.

Developing Our Youth Sports Outreach Program

In the Khama village, there are a large number of youth who have never attended school. These youths have a talent for sports and games, especially football. We have established the VH-LAHA Football Club as a means to reach out to these youth.

Perhaps a basketball coach might be of better use, instead of acquiring canned stuff.

Research & Identify Options To Obtain Sports & Music Equipment

Status: Just started
Step:

The Bukoggolwa School would like to include Physical Education and Music amongst the subjects they want to offer. For this, the school is in need of sports equipment in general and musical instruments.

We would like to brainstorm, research and identify possible options to obtain these materials.

Carolyn, that would be great! Bramuel wants to learn what he can from others who have been successful.

Thank you for the offer-

BRAINSTORMING: Promoting Health Education via a Sports Program

Status: Just started
Time needed:
Two weeks or more
Step:

Arrow Web Hospital is currently considering adding a sports program to target youth ages 11-35 (Bramuel tells me all in this age group are considered youth in Kenya) in the local community. The goal of this program would be to use it as a means to promote health education, mainly around the topic of HIV/AIDS awareness, but also have more obvious benefits such as promoting teamwork and providing an opportunity for exercise.
