Posts about volunteers

Hi Daniel-

Thank you for sharing the posting. I think Maria is correct in that it needs to have additional details about what you are expecting and what a volunteer teacher can expect if they come to work with your organization. The example she shared is a good one. Try to think about this from the perspective of going to another country yourself - what would you want to know before you visited? Adding some additional background about your organization would also be good.

Some ideas of other details you could include are:

1. What does a typical school day consist of?

we have a school helping refugees children here in Kenya most of them are from Congo, Sudan and some from Burundi and we have Kenyans also but they are from poor families. we are located at some 25km from nairobi

INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE - Meet the Neighbours

Status: Just started

We are very happy that you have taken the time to visit the Odoot Kaberamaido village here at Nabuur and learn a bit more about the HANDS IN SERVICE organization. We invite you to join our village as an online volunteer and sincerely hope that you will do so.

Please take a moment to introduce yourself here. Tell us a bit about yourself, your experience and any particular areas of expertise that you have to offer. You can also read about the other volunteers on the team as well. We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

Mary-

Do you have volunteer job descriptions written for each of these posts? If not, I would suggest that we get some volunteers to help you do that. I would then suggest that you register your organization with www.idealist.org where you can post each opportunity and how to apply.

This is a volunteer run organization based in the United States that may be good to contact about partnering with your NGO to help the school. It looks like they provide support with fundraising and also volunteers on the ground.

I think it would be good to contact them and provide an introduction to Goodness and Mercy Missions to see if they might be able to partner with you.

Regards-

Jennifer

We should use water catchment methods like collecting rain water during rain season.

We should assist those in villages unable to aquire a tank, buy tanks for them and fix them ready for collecting rain clean water.

Bore holes are also needed for enough supply of water.
