Winter Clothes Fundraising Project Completed

We are thrilled to report that the clothing crafted by the women in the Yoshinkhel village funded through the generous donations of Nabuur volunteers and supporters of the Education Concern Center is now complete!

Sabina these are beautiful!! It is obvious too that as the women make more of these items that their skills are becoming stronger. They did a great job! Please extend my thanks to them for what they have done to help support the children at the orphanage.

Kind regards

Jennifer

Hi everyone-

I got to speak with Min earlier today. He is presently in Surkhet and plans to be back in Kathmandu tomorrow. He said he has taken many pictures and was able to get them developed. He will scan them so we can post updates once he returns.

We talked a little more about getting volunteers to come to Nepal and help on the ground. Min is very interested in gaining this type of support for ECC.

I am going to go ahead and close this task now. Min has paid Sabina's group in Yoshinkhel to craft the sweaters and mufflers from the fundraising project. The weather has now broken in Nepal so it is not as cold, but these items will be kept safe to use for next winter. I have sent Sabina an email tonight to inquire if they are completed yet. Once they are finished, Min will need to pick them up for safe-keeping when he returns to Kathmandu.

Thank you to all who helped to make this a successful fundraiser.

Just a quick update to let everyone know what's happening:

After being told that the funds had been transferred from GiveMeaning to the ECC bank account on Saturday, Min went to the bank a few days later and was told no transfer had been received. I followed up with the GiveMeaning staff who informed me there had been a problem with the transfer, but they were able to get that worked out. A few days ago, Min checked the bank again and the funds were there.

I wanted to let everyone know what's going on with the money transfer for the funds that were raised. We submitted the bank information for the transfer, but unfortunately, they ask for at least a month to get the transfer accomplished. Apparently they only have one part-time accounting person on staff who handles these things for them and they are a bit behind in getting dispersements out.

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to provide a quick update with regard to the fundraising project. As you know, we achieved our fundraising goal. We had orginally planned to transfer all of the funds directly to Sabina so that the women of Yoshinkhel could begin working on the project right away. We have not been able to reach her. When Min was unable to reach her on the phone, he went to her office and was able to talk with her today. Unfortunately, Sabina has lost her cell phone and also reported that it would not be possible to transfer the money directly to them.

Hopefully you've all seen the news story by now that our fundraising goal was met early Saturday morning. I have contacted support at GiveMeaning.com to find out what the next step is so that we can transfer the funds and get the remainder of the items to the students. As of today, I haven't heard back from them, but I fully expect I will hear something this week.

Thank you so much to everyone who took time to vote and donate. We couldn't have done it without you.

Warm Regards-

Jennifer

$146 to go to reach our fundraising goal!

The Gamauli/Yoshinkhel fundraising project needs only $146 more to achieve our goal of $800-will you be one of the ones who helps us meet our goal??
