Sorry for long gap and not updating the Gamauli village website. Even we have done so many things in Gamuli schools and also in school community. School has completed a building and going to establish library for small children.Friday celebration program is being very effective and students as well as parents participation is increasing.

Here I would like to request for neighbors and other people who are interested are well come for their donation of books, reading materials and stationary for the sch ool in Gamauli.

Nakyerongosa village started a community resource centre after observing the need for such a facility in the area. The idea came about as a result of support from a retired community trainer who donated a few of his books because he wanted to give something back to the community. COMASA officials sensitised schools and community members about the programmes at the Centre. Since then people have realised the importance of the resource centre as a source of knowledge and it is making a world of difference for children whose schools are too poor to afford books.

Early 2012, HAU will run an Eyes of Africa project together with photographer Melanie Rijkers (www.mery.nl). We want to give children in Kisozi (who participated in the hiv/aids workshops), teen mothers in Kisozi and street children in Jinja the oppertunity to discover their talents and develop their talents and show the world their lives through the lens of a camera and through art.

Background:
In June, 2001 Luhwahwa Youth Development Foundation (LUOYODEFO) organized and sponsored “SPORTS FOR CHANGE” tournament for Kajwenge Parish. The event had (and hopefully will continue to have but not limited to) the following activities;-
(a). There was guest briefs on;- the role of youth in development; what is needed of youth to have sustained community; how youth can influence and contribute towards change; how the community can support youth building and formation; education as a tool; etc

We have terrible difficulty to give evidence on the situation in the community, as well as the impact our projects. This difficulty is due to lack of a digital camera to enable capturing of events in a timely manner – as they happen or are done.

LUYODEFO successfully posted a project on betterplace.org to build a home for orphans and destitute children in Kasese, western Uganda. Our goal is to receive online donation through this site to help implement the project.

While we are creating partnership for our OVC program with WORC (www.orphcorp.org), we feel it is necessary to also explore various channels to secure funds. Though WORC is also fundraising to see the work done, but construction work requires very large amounts of money.

Since the Commencement of this school, we have been able to enroll a total of 200 pupils and the number is on the increase.This is because we charge affordable fees, we offer quality education and we understand our parents. However most parents end up not being able to pay fees due to unreliable jobs,high cost of living and unemployment.

The first initiative that Turning point project has established is the making of Jewellery and craft products such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, shopping baskets, purse, outing bags, household decorations, table mats,lavatory mats, door mats, portraits of animals & people and key holders and document purse.
