This may be of interest to some of the schools on Nabuur who are working towards self-sufficiency.

Hi Herlina,
This is quite some interesting work, it would be great for the work to continue online and i have seen an interesting platform where such concepts could shared.
An organisation on website www.elimu.co.ke is developing websites for schools in Kenya-Africa and this offers a great opportunity for rolling out such a great idea, please check it and see if the platform could be useful to this concept.
Kind Regards

Dear all,
Jennifer recently found an organisation, Givology (https://www.givology.org/donate/projects/) that might be of interest for some of the Nabuur organisations involved in education. It follows a very similar model as Givemeaning and allows organisations involved in education to find private sponsors for different activities such as teacher training, or school fees for specific students. However, the application process is not that easy, and organisations have to fulfill the following criteria.
1. 501-(c)3 status (or equivalent) or official institutions of education (i.e. local schools or universities) - Non-profit organizations based in the United States should have tax exemption status. NGOs abroad have to meet accountability standards in accordance to the law of the base country. Official institutions of education should have documentation proving legitimacy of operations.
2. 2+ years of field experience - Givology mainly partners with established organizations that have deep operational experience and commitments to local communities and villages. Ideally, the partner organization would have local branches situated nearby the villages, since partners are required to provide periodic updates on the progress of the sponsored student or project.
3. Completion of Partner Application Form - To become a partner, Givology requests that each organization fills out a form that describes the organization's main achievements (i.e. number of students helped, amount of funding raised, awards for social impact, etc.), history, management team, and operational experience (i.e. geographic location and branches, number of staff, outreach strategy, overhead as a % of total resources). The form comprehensively addresses the key issues in building credible, lasting partnerships. The form is available here
4. Interview - Givology first screens potential partners through a 30-minute phone interview to clarify questions in the application and to develop a better understanding of the partner's operations and mission. If feasible, we will make travel arrangements to visit your organization.
5. Further Documentation - Givology may request potential partners to provide additional documentation, including letters of support.
More information and the application form can be found at https://www.givology.org/partnerships/
If somebody applies, please share your experience for others to learn from since so far nobody has applied yet. (or is there somebody?)
Wish you a happy new year,
Maria
Maria, thank you for sending the information. I will look into it and tell you whether we do make an application.
all the best,
Lia

Dear all,
It has been quite quiet in this group. I was just wondering whether any village actually applied to givology. And if yes, what was your experience?
If you are new to Nabuur or this group, please do not hesitate to use the various discussion threads to share your experience and ask questions you might have. If you are a new village on Nabuur working in education, this is your opportunity to get started and to learn from other villages that might work on a similar topic as you are. PLease have a look at the different discussion topics here http://www.nabuur.com/en/group/education/project
Have a good week-end everybody,
Maria

Hi MariaZ
i applied for partnership with Givolgy and had a skype interview with Joyce Meng but till now
no result at all. I dont know if it takes long to have a definite answer so i am still waiting.
Can you help us with the time line? When did you apply? When did you have your Skype interview? Those two dates will help.

Ginger :)
I did apply to Givology too. I applied on friday 22/1/2010. Joyce acknowledged receipt of my application and said she would get back to me.
