Education-related networks: Linking up with others with an interest in education around the world
Status:

Step:
2
There are many networks, both local and international, that allow teachers and others involved in education to make new contacts and share information. Some may be completely online, others may organise local meetings as well.
Please post details of these networks here.
If you are, or have been, a member of one of these networks, how have you and your school benefitted from this?

Dear all,
Some weeks ago, we started to link different Nabuur schools to each other to create a partnership between different classes. The first schools have already been put in contact with each other and the initiative was received very positively.
The first schools to partner with each other are a school in Spring Valley Slum/Kenya and a school in Serere/Uganda. Moses and Everyline will both work with a class on a common class project making the kids (from 10 years on) write about christmas traditions in their region. They then will exchange the letters before Christmas and discuss differences. To save money, Everyline will scan the letters and send them by email.
Another two classes in Mowoito/Uganda and in Mathare/Kenya are discussing to get started on a class project in social sciences.
However, the funding remains a problem. Sending the letters, even if only once every two months or so is quite expensive for the villages. Looking for different funding possibilities, I got the impression that most programmes target north-south partnerships (as the porgramme by the British Council or by Dfid for example). But I think it might be worth looking for other NGO´s in the field of education and to ask for support for linking schools in the south. http://www.britishcouncil.org/delphe-alternative-funding.htm/ (some are interesting); http://www.feedtheminds.org/
What do you think, neighbors? Do you think it makes sense to submit a proposal for such a partnership programme (maybe in the name of Nabuur)? Any organisations in mind?
Looking forward to your ideas,
Maria
hi maria,
i think your actual name is not mariaz but maria.
it's some thing amazing & interesting which you have disclosed.through this one can save money, boost up the confidence of students & can encourage the staff while sharing the ideas.
in my opinion we most often get good results & success if we have well organized name in the background.i think so nabuur it self is working for education so it'll be better to be submitted by the name of nabuur.
regards,
adnan khan
The idea of getting some funding to facilitate partnerships is good. I also add my voice to Khan to say doing it as nabuur would be good because it allows flexibility in dealing with new villages who may join and desire to participate

Hi Adnan,
Only the administers of Nabuur (Romina) can help you to get your village visible. It is still not visible... Did you hear back from them?
Maria
Hi Adnan,
Get back to the registration process/form and make sure you provided all information requested. If there are bits you missed, the instructions will show. In this way you you will be sure that your village will get online

Hi Adnan,
If you have already submitted the three stories about your village, Romina will notify you while by email when your village gets online. Just be patient. About the anomaly of your names, somebody here in nabuur administration should be able to ans this.

Hi Maria
Yes I agree that it would be great if it was possible to get some money from somewhere to help these partnerships along. I would also support this being done in the name of Nabuur, we would need input from Pelle or Romina to find out if that is possible or not.
Mary

Hi Adnan
I do not know what is causing the problem. I have posted your question across to the Web Development group http://www.nabuur.com/en/group/nabuurcom-website-development/project/tas... so that Pelle from Nabuur can have a look at it.
Mary
Hello Khan,
I have seen that you have good ideas and contributions.
However, i can not access your village, this only means that you did not finish your registration , in other words, your village is not online.
Please if you require any help regarding that, i am willing to take you through the drills.
