Found things that work great?
Found things that don't work as they should?
Found things that could work even better?

Leave your suggestions here!

Thanks Frans

This is just a quick test to see if i can post links now http://www.nabuur.com/

I am pleased to see that Roy is now getting things reorganised for the redesign. Maybe there should be a fourth thread for exisiting neighbours and what they would like to see change. Current threads ask new neighbours but not those who have been around for a while and who may have different needs than the new ones.

Good point Mary, I will keep that in mind, certainly want to leave them out of the discussion. thanks.

I went to the Facilitator page to put my comments - and when I clicked on 'redesign' it told me access denied. Pretty much wraps up my experience of Nabuur. I joined last March and the first site I found totally user friendly - then the new one went in - and I am still awaiting some kind of instructional guide! So, what I would love is, when the 'new' Nabuur is up and running - could you please include simple instructions for simple people? Thanks

Hi Frans

I thought you had turned off the spam filter?

Although I am now able to add links when posting to a Task, I am still not able to put links in Private Messages. As before, even when posting a message with no links, I still have to enter the capcha.

And I don't even know what the capcha is yet! Where is it that you are posting a message that you have to 'enter the capcha'???

Hi Ginger

You are so lucky!!!!

I think its only on Private Messages now, it used to be on task posts too. The website checks the message you post and, if it thinks it is spam, asks you to confirm its a genuine message by entering a 'capcha'. You see a little graphic containing letters and numbers which you have to type in (or you can have it read the text to you).

On some sites its possible to post a message without having to sign in, or by sending an email to a particular address, so they are open to being spammed by people who have written programs which send messages to many sites. As the capcha text cannot be read by these programs, those spam messages are blocked.

Ginger - you should be able to access the redesign discussion now.
Trying to find out what went wrong.

Hi Mary,

just a wild guess: your name might trigger the spam service?

Hi Pelle

I can't imagine why it would think my name was spam?

I have only had this problem over the last week or two. When the spam filter was turned on a few months ago, I was able to include links in both private messages and task posts provided I entered the capcha.

As I said: just a wild guess. It's possible that there has been a lot of spam lately by 'people called Smith'? That's a lot more likely than receiving spam from people called Ellsworth....

We're using Mollom (www.mollom.com), a webservice, to check on SPAM. This service learns from all kinds of messages all across the web.

Hi Pelle

It must be Marys not Smiths as it doesn't say Smith anywhere in my profile or in my messages. Any way to tell it I am innocent?!

Guess I will just have to learn to live with for now unless you are going to remove the spam filter from private messages. Its possible that many other people ar having the same problem and simply giving up.....

And by the way-Spam is still going trough- got a private message 10 min ago.Sorry - completely forgot about the reporting part, but there was Elvis in the name.

You're right, Smith doesn't appear in your profile.
I don't know of a way to tell it you're innocent. Frans is looking into it right now.

Removing the spam filter from the private msg will bring us back to the same situation as before. I hope there is a way to fine-tune things.

Hi Tanja,

Without trying to start a discussion about what's SPAM:
this Elvis has only sent 7 messages... and looking at the message he seems to be looking for assistance, may want to start a village on NABUUR? I do agree he could have chosen a less suspicious username and rephrase the title, but that's more of a cultural thing.

If we'd want to block this kind of messages, which I personally wouldn't, I don't think there's any spam service that is designed to block these kind of messages.

Oops, I should have opened the message! Do you by any chance have a copy of it? The subject line looked like a classic example of spam :(
