Developing NABUUR.com website

The development of the NABUUR site is ongoing. You're welcome to join, what ever you can offer (ideas, documentation, code...)

What is needed?

For the current site, there are maintenance tasks and sometimes bug fixes and code upgrades. You can find more information in a few places:

We're also working on revamping the website and upgrading to a newer Drupal version.

How can you join?

Get in touch, for instance through the IRC chat channel #nabuur on freenode!

Hi Diane

Sounds good :) Gerdie, who used to work for Nabuur a few years ago, also has experience in this area, so it would be good if you two could link up and share ideas about the marketing/communication side of things. Best bet is to post a quick note to the Governance discussion that I mentioned and offer your help.

Hi Mary,

I would be happy to be involved.... just let me know what role you would like me to play (I have a Masters in Communications Management and have worked in corporate comms for some years!).

Cheers,

Diane :)

Hi Diane

Welcome to Nabuur!

Your comments about the website are very welcome. The current site is not perfect, and there are many areas that can be improved.

We are currently going through the process of looking at redesigning the site to make it easier to use for everyone, and people like you who are new to the site can be very helpful to that process - you will see things that are not obvious to those of us who have been with Nabuur for a while, because we are so used to using the site.

The input will feed into the NabuurCamp which takes place in Holland on 13-14 February, where a group of neighbours, village Local Representatives and web designers will discuss the future of Nabuur and how things can work more effectively. There is more information on that in the blog at http://www.nabuur.com/en/nabuur-blog (scroll down a few posts).

At the moment the discussion is a little scattered. Most of it is taking place in the Nabuur Governance group http://www.nabuur.com/en/group/nabuur-governance/project/task/nabuur-gov... , although its possible that some of it will move into other groups over the coming weeks. We are also having online chats.

You would be very welcome to get involved!

Mary

Hi there,

I am new to the NABUUR community (I just joined today!), and I think you do a fabulous job. I only hope that I can contribute in some small way.

To be honest, though, I have found the site quite difficult to navigate in many respects (and you're probably already addressing these issues, so apologies if you are in advance!):

> It was difficult to know which tasks has already been undertaken, and I had to read the comments to work it out, and even that wasn't clear at times. Maybe an Open/Closed would help for a quick visual? Some of the urgent tasks were months old...

> It was also difficult to work out which villages were undertaking current tasks. A quick visual is also needed here.

> The captcha thingy was really annoying: it seemed to only come up after the form was submitted, and there were two spots to complete (normally it's one).

> There is just way too much clicking and reading to get to where one needs to go. Personally, I think it's just way too complicated.

> Have you thought about using a design similar to Ning...?

These are just thoughts from someone very new to NABUUR... hope I've helped.

Cheers,

Diane :)

Hi,

Its unfortunate that most of the nabuur members have no knowledge about web desighning.
My contribution are just prayers that God may give you an open mind, clear knowledge and strenght to design it effectively.
