Is your project or Village on Twitter?

Does your project or Village have a Facebook Group or Fan Page?

Are you on Flickr or YouTube?

If so, drop the link in a reply below - We will compile them into a directory, and also advertise them via our own social network platforms.

If you're not set up on any network, but feel your project or Village could benefit from the potential of social media and would like some assistance in getting started, let us know!

Hi Solomon! Great to hear from you again! I sent you a message regarding this matter - please check your mail here at Nabuur.

I need a partner who can help in constructing shelters for orphans. I already have the land but no resources. Thirty children are in the cold with no hope but we are trying to give them hope. The number is growing every other day

It's been quite awhile since we've reviewed this task - I'd like to give it another look to see if anyone has started a Facebook Fan Page or Group for your village, joined Twitter...or started a Flickr account or YouTube channel.

I try to always link the fan pages on Facebook to the Nabuur page and keep an eye on those for news updates, but there may be pages I've missed. We also have lists made for Nabuur local representatives, Nabuur volunteers and Nabuur local communities on Twitter - I want to make sure we have you listed.

Let me know if I'm missing you!

I am Esther Kamau I run a community library in Nairobi at Uthiru village in a bid to promote an encourage a reading culture. The uptake for readership is Kenya is high but the cost of books is very high makeing them inaccessible to the majority and low income earners, hence the inception of SHIROZ BOOK LENDING LIBRARY AND RESOURCE CENTRE. we need people to support us in cash, books, equipment and anything usefull in a library, we are on facebook we need more ideas on how to make good use of it so that it can be of benefit to us in terms of creating awareness and promoting our services and getting the support that we need. we can be reached on shirozlibrary@yahoo.com or inbox us on facebook. we want to take advantage of the social media too and we need to be guided on how to make most of it. Regards as we promote a reading culture in our society so as to empower people and hence help them make informed decisions.

Hi Esther - it's nice to meet you and hear about the work that you do. Right now, Nabuur is not accepting any new projects, but you can submit your name to be contacted at a later date if registration is reopened. I'm sure just browsing through the site you'll meet a lot of others who could really benefit from the work that you do, or who may have ideas for helping you get additional books for your library. Best wishes for success.

Thanks a lot Jennifer for your advice, I will submit my name for future considerations when registration is re-opened, the site has been very helpful, , thanks a lot to Mary too for sending me a list from her databases of potential books donors I will write to them, I appreciate any information that will help teh library and resource center to grow be able to generate income to sustain the library as mostly libraries are not for profit making and hence promote a reading culture in Kenya. God bless and keep advising us accordingly.Regards

Books are expensive to print and ship. One option is to send the books on a DVD and print locally. One option is use the DVD in a computer and read them.

DVDs for Schools
Ag Workshops: USA: TX, MS, FL, CA, AR, NM, WA; México, Rep. Dominicana, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria,
Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Haití, England, Nicaragua, India, Uzbekistan. South Africa [2011], Indonesia [2012]

Education is the only solution to poverty and population growth

A CD holds 650 MB. The Bible is 1.4 MB. Therefore, a CD holds 464 copies of the Bible. A DVD holds 3,000 copies of the Bible. A video DVD holds 10 hours of video. Just imagine what would happen if every school in the bush of Africa, the jungles of Latin America and the mountains of Asia had a computer and DVD library to use for teaching and training.

3,000 books on one DVD for US50¢; mailed to any country for $1.
10 hours of Bible videos on one DVD for US50¢; mailed to any country for $1.

DVDs should be loaded with educational materials: books, videos, various studies, etc. The internet is not necessary and is expensive in some areas. People can study for hours on a computer [home, office, cybercafé, etc] using DVDs. 7B people on earth and 2B cannot read [400M in India. 2M in the USA] but they can be educated using video/audio DVDs. Use HTTrack website copier [free] to download websites into computers and on to DVDs.

All computers and laptops operate, internally, on 12 v. Those without electricity use a computer, internally altered, to operate directly on 12 v. from a battery with a solar charger [email for instructions] or a pedal-powered generator. This opens up a whole new way to teach. Thousands of DVDs are available on hundreds of subjects and many are free.

Our team of workers who have labored for a year delivering food, supplies to seven of the hardest hit villages by cyclone Nargis in Myanmar are still tirelessly serving. On a recent trip one village chief asked them to share the story of Jesus with the entire village and provided his battery powered T. V. for viewing the Jesus film.
