As part of the Storyteller Group, it would be nice to work as a team. A team of dedicated people who are eager to find the stories, to create the news, to bring out the project developments to light!

And it all starts with introducing yourself here!

Hi

My name is Gerdie, working for NABUUR in the Netherlands. I live in Amsterdam and love to play tennis and ride the bike. In the weekends I am living on a small island in the North of the country.
I will try to coordinate this group and get storytelling integrated in the NABUUR model. Hopefully we can present a good storybook at the end of the year from all beautiful things which happen in Villages on NABUUR.com while we speak.

Don't hesitate to send me an e-mail if you have any questions!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Jessica and I live in Washington, DC, capitol of the United States. I have been working with Gerdie and the NABUUR staff to write stories for the website since last year.

We are eager to hear the stories you have about what is happening in NABUUR villages!

Please do not worry about how the story "sounds" -- I am happy to help edit the stories with you.

Dear Daniel and Jessica,

There is an update waiting in the Village of Kabondo. Daniel, since it's your first story for NABUUR, I suggest you can ask Jessica for assistance where needed. You can reach eachother through a private message in your profiles.

I will post the latest stories about Kabondo in the task called ''Stories waiting to be written''.
You will find a good format in the ''Examples of good stories'' section.

Good luck!

Hello everyone!

I'm Somdutta, and I presently live in Kolkata, in India. I'm an English Honours student, who loves to write and read. I'm into movies, music, blogging, networking and amateur photography. I dabble(d) in online reporting and editorial stuff, and am looking forward to telling stories at NABUUR :)

God bless!

Hello Everyone,

Some of you I already know. Some of you I do not. I am a facilitator for Kabondo and Kyomya and involved in various projects on Nabuur. I have been with Nabuur for some time now. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada which is in the western part of the country. I operate a small charity called The Africa Book Project and also work as a photographer and visual designer.

While I have no formal journalistic writing experience, I am very good at telling stories through images, so I would love to assist in that component of the storytelling. In fact, I am working on a project in Kenya to use photography to tell visual stories amongst students... it's still in the project design phase.

I have written in many different ways from research reports and more technical writing, to newsletters for various groups, to writing a few children's stories (still working on publishing them!) I worked as a researcher for quite some time so research and fact verification is another area that I am fairly good at.

I look forward to working with everyone!

Hello fellow storytellers!

I guess it's my turn to introduce myself: my name is Romina Oliverio and I'm the Volunteer Manager at Nabuur.

Born in Argentina, I've called Canada home since 1982. I'm currently based in Toronto (where today the wind chill is dipping down to a bone chilling -10 Celsius) but have also lived in Montreal and Kitchener-Waterloo. I studied Peace and Conflict at the University of Waterloo, and am currently taking some media classes at George Brown College. I enjoy reading (everything except science-fiction), writing/blogging, doing activism work (main interest is human rights, specifically women and Indigenous rights, in Latin America) and exploring the hidden corners and coffee shops of this great city.

If you'd like to know anything else, just ask me!

Looking forward to working with all of you!

Hi! Am John Kibuuka, born and raised in Kampala, uganda. Am interested in writing and reading stories as well. I do not have any journalist skills either but have been keeping a blog and writing in different newsletters for a while now.

I signed up with nabuur a while back but have been very inactive. I would like to take a little time out to help others every now and then more in the coming year. I also hope with the coming year, east africa is going to have better access to the Internet at better rates than what we currently have. At least now would be a great time to learn helping using the Internet.

Feel free to write to email and nudge me a bit whenever I become inactive ;)

Season Greetings from the West Bank
I'm Fatima, born and reared in Ramallah, have just returned home after reading for a Masters in Education in Ireland. I have no journalistic experience but have had a number of letters about the Middle East published in Irish and English Newspappers. I love storytelling and use theatre of the oppressed often in my work here in schools.

Hi All,
I'm Sinéad and I'm a true blue Dub. I love to tell stories. Like Fatima, I use 'Theatre of the Oppressed' and cartoons in my teaching . A long time ago I enjoyed writing for my college newspapper but now I mostly correct essays. This has its advantages. My students are very clever and last year I got to meet Kofi Annan when 2 of them won an International Essay/short story competiton on World Hunger. I got to say to him "I'm their teacher!" I want to be the writer again!!!
(true blue Dub-proud to be from Dublin and believe the Dublin Gaelic football team is the best in the world)
Happy Christmas, Chanukah and a great New Year,
Sinéad

Hi Everyone,

It's great to see more new faces, and with such wonderful life experience. Welcome!

We'll soon be posting some stories that need a write-up, but I'm curious if any of you have come across stories or developments or even people in the online Villages that you'd like to write about?

Hi Sinéad,

Welcome to NABUUR: I think you'll have your chance to write a few good stories here :-)
As a true blue Dub, don't you prefer hurling? I must say it would be good to see another match at Croke park again :-D

Hope you enjoy New Year and see you around in 2009!

Hello Hannah,

Welcome, you've come to the right place. I bet there are Villages waiting to have their story told... and guess they will also love your skills in digital media.

Have a good New Year, and hope to read more in 2009.
