I Suggest the community must create portable drinking water for them such as bore hole or well to use it.If any source of drinking water to use they must to take very good care of it either wise they would get water related diseases.Thank you.
Welcome to the water and sanitation group and thank you for your ideas. Do you have any resources on building a bore hole or a well? Maybe some organizations that assist with this?
It is a good suggestion to have portable drinking, however it still has to be boiled or treated before use to kill any organisms. Then proper storage, as you mention would be required. Also, if a well or bore hole is built it should be covered when not in use to prevent contamination.
The following guide provides a general overview of water, sanitation and health. It has good diagrams and information that could be used for workshops or sensitization in the community.
Prescription for Health is a DVD put together by the International Development Research Centre. While the movie was made in the 1980s, the messages contained in the movie are still very relevant today. The only way you would know that this movie was made in the 80s is by 2 references to the 1980s. It is great for showing to the community for general sensitization on health, water and sanitation. The file is very large, but below is a transcription of the movie plus a link to the website where the movie can be downloaded. I have a DVD copy of the movie, that I am trying to find a way to load for easy downloading, but haven't quite found a way yet...
