update re adyaka village
Dear Neighbours
It has been some time since I last sent a newsletter about Adyaka village. As you may know there hav ebeen some big changes this summer;
- Enon Alex and his collagues have felt that we should move from a model of help based on trying to raise funds to help build a vocational training centre to a model based on a Business Support model whereby the young people who we have been trying to help would be attached to local businesses and centres for learning on the job experience
- we have not been successful in trying to raise funds via charities etc, and in the present financial crisis this will be even more difficult
- it would be hoped that with the acquisition of entrepreneurial and training skills that the young people will be able to set up in business for themselves
-thus a new / revised business and action plan is needed with new ideas
- AODI will still be the local organisation to try to lead on this issue
- on a personal basis I have been facilitator for Adyaka for some two years now and although we have achieved some good results I am clearly and strongly of the view that I am not now able to give the time that is needed to this role and I am thus going to stand down from the facilitator role and ask someone else to take on this job .
I have enjoyed it greatly and I will continue to support Adyaka but I am sure that it will be good for all if this change now takes place. I will let nabuur know accordingly. I hope everyone will continue to support Adyaka and develop new ideas.
Kind regards
Richard Priestley
