Help find out where Adyaka can get funding
Status:

Step:
6
A volunteer needed to find 2 or 3 funding organisations that give funding for vocational centres in Africa.
We need to know/have:
- Find out if there are other villages on Nabuur ready to apply for funding for a voacational centre to try to cooperate;
- contact information of funding organisations and person to contact for more information;
- application form'
- list of criteria for funding.
All results can be added to the wiki!

Hi Alex (and all!)
I saw your news item. Although not an active neighbour of Adyaka I do hope you are successful with one or both of those organisations. Finding funding seems to be down to luck sometimes...
I know I have mentioned in the past that we created a big list of potential funders for Kiliba village (DRC). For various reasons, including the fact that most of the orgs on our original list had no details of funding criteria or application procedures, we were not successful.
So we started on a new list of organisations that DO have this information on their websites, and this list has grown quite a bit over the last few weeks.
If you don't succeed with your current applications and need to start looking for other possibilities, you are welcome to share.
See http://www.nabuur.com/modules/wiwimod/index.php?villageid=279&actionId=4... which takes you to the main Resources section from where you will find a link to Kiliba's list among other things.

Dear All,
The Process of Finding the FUNDING ORGANISATIONS are-
1)First go to GOOGLE.
2)Type the Following in the "Google Search".
WEBSITES OF NON-PROFITABLE ,CHARITY ORGANISATIONS WHICH
PROVIDES SUPPORT TO ADYAKA IN UGANDA OF AFRICA FOR A VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE IN
"NORTH AMERICA".
3)You will get NUMEROUS Websites RELATED to your NEED..
4)You have to take the POINTER of your MOUSE to the name of the Website.
5)The POINTER of the MOUSE will turn to THUMBMAIL(The pointer will turn to
five fingers of the HAND with FOREFINGER POINTING)
6)Now you have to "Log On" to Websites to Find out whether the organisation is READY TO EXTEND SUPPORT OR NOT.
KEEP IN MIND-some of the websites may not be of your need.Do not log on to them.
By SEEING THE BOLD LETTERS & OTHER WEBSITES SHORT DESCRIPTIONS,IN YOUR FIRST SEARCH PAGE(before logging on to each website),you can understand whether it is of your NEED OR NOT.
If by chance, you CANNOT UNDERSTAND AT FIRST SIGHT,or have any DOUBT,you can log on.
7)Many times the Organisations had already Funded Elsewhere.
8)To VERIFY so ,FIND the "CONTACT".
9)In CONTACT you will find the E-MAIL-ID,of the ORGANISATION.
11)Instead of getting email-id you may also get A BLANK SPACE WHERE YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR EMAIL-ID.and also type a SHORT INFORMATION OF YOUR ORGANISATION AND YOUR REQUIREMENT.
In order to meet this requirement,in your OWN YAHOO ID-SAVE A MESSAGE IN "SAVE AS DRAFT".
So that every time you meet these types of organisations, you can just straight
SELECT > COPY > PASTE(from yourYAHOO-ID- "SAVE AS DRAFT"to the required organisation MESSAGE SPACE)
10)It will SAVE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME(preventing the rewriting of the same message every time)
11)By REPEATING the "STEP 2 "-,& CHANGING the NAME OF COUNTRY,FOR EG.INSTEAD OF "NORTH AMERICA",you can write "AUSTRALIA",or ANY OTHER COUNTRY'S NAME.
And then repeat the same steps like before.
12)IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUERRIES,DO NOT HESITATE, AND YOU ARE MOST WELCOME TO CONTACT ME.
13) THE WORK IS OF " TIME TAKING" & " PATIENCE"
Good Luck,
Take Care,
Warm Regards,
Sushmita

Hello everyone,
Claudia V. here, the Nabuur staff member with monitoring duties for Adyaka! In the recource section of this Task there is a document with a fairly long list of possible funding organisations. Before we start searching for new funding organisations we need to find out the potential for the ones we already have.
I think what is needed now is 2 or 3 Neighbours going over that list and find the criteria for funding of these organisations and add them to the document.
After that we can start by filling in the forms to apply for funding.
I have posted about getting sewing machines in the discussion of 'work with Alex to plan training programmes', maybe there are organisations that can donate computers in Uganda or another country. Who can find out?
Alex & Richard, do you think these suggestions are any good?
Maybe we can make a list of 4 things that need doing NOW and put them in e news letter to send out to all Adyaka Neighbours?
Let me know
Claudia V.
Hello Claudia,
Hope you had a good "holiday" whiles visiting your Indian project. I really do think that Nabuur HQ ought to approach Lions International and Rotary International, with a view to a strategic partnership between Nabuur and those two organsations.
Such a partnership would mean that whenever Nabuur starts a village project anywhere in the developing world, Nabuur HQ would alert the nearest Lions International or Rotary Club, to assist that village - either as a club project or individual members would become business "angels" to the project, and help find funding, etc. etc., for the village project, whiles mentoring the local representative - very often the weakest link in the project, because of the many insurmountable problems associated with life as members of the poorest classes, in poor developing nations.
Both Lions International and Rotary International, desperately need to constantly attract new and younger members, in the 21st century ICT world. Their partnership with Nabuur, could be a very effective way for them to recruit those new and younger members they need to attract to sustain themselves!
There is a Lions International member, who is the facilitator of Dogon-Bomako village, please ask his opinion about this idea! And tell him, I can link up the young Dogon youth, who say they are being exploited by unscrupulous tour operators, to an ethically-run tour operator in Mali, with connections to a French organisation that provides funding, for social projects in rural eco-tourist destinations - so they must be serious and call me!
I even telephoned a contact of mine at the Green Travel Market in Holland today, and asked her to look up their Nabuur village home page - who thought www.nabuur.com was a great idea: and that their project too was fantastic. So what more do they want, Claudia, I ask?
Best wishes,
Kofi.
Claudia - i think that your ideas are very helpful to focus our attention to get results .
Kofi - thanks I like the idea for nabuur to consider making links with Lions / Rotary clubs - you are very right that they need to rejuvenate . I also think that it might be useful to consider this more locally for Adyaka.
I will include all these issues in my next newsletter
Best wishes
Richard
Hi Claudia and everyone!
That spreadsheet came originally from Kiliba village - I was one of the people who created it. The majority of the organisations on there do not have nay funding criteria or application details on their websites. Later, we decided to pull out all the ones that did contain this information.
This list is in a Wiki in Kiliba and can be found via the link in the main Nabuur Resources section at http://www.nabuur.com/modules/wiwimod/index.php?villageid=279&actionId=4... - follow the first link in there. I have also added some others that have application details - some to the main Resources list, some to the Kiliba list.
May be an easier start-point than going through the whole spreadsheet.
As to which organisations are relevant to Adyaka - that will depend on how much funding you are looking for, and for what. I know that Alex has posted recently about starting small, but there don't seem to be any details of those plans on the site. Richard, you suggested in the newsletter that neighbours could break the current plan down into smaller chunks, but surely it should be Alex who is setting priorities for what should be done first, based on the wishes of the people in Adyaka?
Mary
Hi Mary,
thanks for the update. I have copied these organisations in the wiki of this Task.
Now Adyaka Neighbours can look through the list and find the organisations relevant for Adyaka to apply for funding.
Richard, will you include this in your news letter?
Neighbours....who is willing to take responsibility?
Claudia V.
Hello all,
is there anybody working on the criteria of the funding organisations yet?
If not, who is willing to start with this?
Claudia V.
There are several options for Adyaka:
1. Adyaka can get foreign funding by applying to various organisations through the internet. There are various websites that show organisations with interests in funding projects in developing countries
2. Adyaka can also pursue the approach of gatting state funding through application to the responsible authority.
3. Adyaka may also engage in income-generating activities in order to raise a substantial amount which can act as suplementary capital.
