Help Us Identify & Choose Sustainable Income-Generation Activities

Status: Just started
Step:
2

The school board and management of Keframa Colllege intend to continue working in partnership with the Lango Youth Action for Development organization. The goal of this partnership will be to focus on development issues at a grassroots level one of which is promotion of income-generation activities to support the school.

We need to identify the best means to support wages for our teachers, and we would also like to establish sustainable income to support a scholarship program as part of this task. We are requesting your help in determining what type of projects will help us best sustain the school for years to come.

Just to update on the current status of this task in relation to the school -

I heard from Augustine that one of his friends recommended growing rice which could then be sold to fund school activities and programs. He has already started a garden of rice which he intends on harvesting and selling to help out with covering the costs of teacher's salaries.

Augustine also noted: "Children(students) from families capable of paying school fees will also be allowed to join the school and pay a reasonable(subsidized)fees so as to raise some money as a way of raising income for the school."

He also said that a final fee structure for the school is yet to be worked out. He anticipates that this will occur around September when the school board sits down to meet in preparation for classes to begin early next year.

The school commitee should involve teachers in the development process so that they feel part of the management. I therefore advice for a cyber cafe.
