Below you'll find a brief update and his responses to my questions. Some of his other updates were included under associated tasks to help clarify. __________________________________________________ Construction of two classrooms is in progress on land donated to the school. Construction is expected to be complete in December 2010 and the goal of all involved is to welcome the first students to Keframa College in February 2011. [b]Regarding Formal Registration of the School:[/b] "The school is being registered with the education office here in Lira. We believe by or before August, inspection of school site will be complete by the inspector of schools and a letter of recommendation given...The inspector of schools has already agreed to do the inspection-hence arrangement to travel there at an appropiate time is being made." [b]Regarding the original plan to register an umbrella organization - Barr Action for Development:[/b] "Management has decided that we continue working in partnership with Lango Youth Action for Development-the organization was registered, but their registration certificate expired." Renewal of registration is being followed up. This organization is also a member of the Northern Uganda Anti-Corruption Coalition(NUACC)." [b] Developing a Clear Project Budget [/b] "I have not yet come up with the budget. I only have a section of it (lighting and water supply)that AHEAD Energy helped us develop. That needs to be worked on as well." [b] Involvement of Architects Without Borders[/b] "I have not communicated with Architects Without Borders for a couple of weeks now. However, as soon as there is need to erect more classrooms in the bigger piece of land which we also have been donated, we intend to contact them again. There is no individual person from there that we are communicating with as all our communications was straight to management AWB Canada." [b] Transportation to/from the School [/b] "KEFRAMA College is located just along a main roard connecting two parishes and Barr sub-county with Apala sub-county. However, there is no vehicle owned by KEFRAMA College making transport at school a problem." [b] Role of Lango Youth Action for Development at Keframa College [/b] "Lango Youth Action for Development will play a role of advisory service (giving advice and two of its members might be represented in the School Board)." [b]You mentioned that you need an architect to design the school - did Architects Without Borders do this for you?[/b] "A local engineer did this free of charge since it is still a simple structure that will be used as we start up." __________________________________________________ Attached you will also find a copy of a recommendation letter in support of developing Keframa College that Augustine sent with his responses.
