Between 27th.October to 29th.October,2009, a Capacity-Building Workshop was organised for Bukoggolwa Village Members.
The Workshop was organised by Foundation for Human Rights Initiative(FHRI) in conjunction with Bukoggolwa Widows and Orphans'Care Centre(BWOCC) with financial support from the Finnish NGO Foundation for Human Rights(KIOS).
BWOCC is a partner NGO with FHRI(www.fhri.or.ug)
The Major Topics were:
- Concept of Human Rights and emphasising the right to education.
- Human Rights Monitoring,Documentation and Advocacy.
- Developing Strategic Action Plan.
- Fundraising Strategies.
- Putting Evaluation into Context.
- Building Strategic Partnerships(Stakeholder analysis).
- Governance and Professionalism.
- Membership Development.
- Staffing and Volunterism.
- Developing Organization Systems and Policies
among many others.
The workshop was well attended and the way forward is to see that Bukoggolwa Secondary School
is fully supported in terms of community mobilisation, fundraising,technical and logistical
support from internal and external sources.
Come 2010, Bukoggolwa Secondary School must be seen as an engine of sustainable development
in Uganda.
