Hi Judit Mukhamba,
I just joined your village and hope to have some input in the project for quality education for children in Bukokholo. You are looking for more books, and I would like to know what kind of books exactly (topics?does not matter as long as educational for primary school children?) and..I assume that you are looking for English written books?
Kind regards,
Tuyet

Hi,
Free e-books are a great option and I had suggested this on nabuur at Garden village earlier this year. The problems mentioned by Garden at that stage were related to the costs of printing and binding the free e-books after downloading, availability of computers etc.
The advantages of free e-books include the following :
- there is no need to request for donations of printed books
- there is no need to pay charges to transport donated books from other locations
- free e-books are available for all age groups and in all subjects, and there is no need to depend only on the subjects of the donated printed books
The model of free e-books to be adopted could be as follows :
- create an e-library which is equipped with a few computers where downloaded books can be read on the computer itself, and there is no need to print the books.
This will avoid the expenses of printing and binding of the books, and physical storage is not required since the books are stored on the computers.
- depending on need, a few books can be printed to meet the requirements in classrooms etc.
- instead of asking for donations of printed books, the focus can shift to donations of computers and books on CDs or other storage devices. If books are available on CDs etc this will reduce the internet expenses also since these books can be transferred to the computers from the CDs directly, without the need to download these from the internet. In other cases these can be downloaded from the internet in one computer and then transferred through storage devices to other computers.
Over a period of time, the e-library will grow to thousands of books, and this model can be replicated in all villages on nabuur.
Vijai
Dear vijai
Thank you very much on your advice i think it is a good advice but on our site we area in a very rural where even getting internet is problem
in this stuation we really need some of ideas on how we can go about this.
thanks for join us and putting in this creaty ideas.
welcome
Hi Judith,
The village already has a website, so I presume that the internet is available for your use at a location away from the school. In this case, you can have the following arrangement :
- books can be downloaded in the computer which is connected to the internet
- the downloaded books can then be transferred to another computer which can be installed at the school. (If the school does not have a computer at present, it can be planned in the future). For transferring the downloaded books from one computer to another, the internet is not required, and the transfer can be done through any portable storage device like a pen-drive etc.
- from the school computer, the books can be projected on a large screen through a projection system in the class. (The screen and projection system can be planned).
- if enough computers are available in the school, the books can be transferred to all computers without the use of internet as explained above. In this case the children can read books directly on the computers.
Vijai

Hi All
It has taken us so long for this task but we still need volunteers who may know the organization/company that can donate primary text book to our library.
