Aquaponics

Status: Stalled

Dear all

A few months ago , i mentioned that a team (2) from Aquaponics UK were visiting our village to teach us the wonders of this technology and also try to adapt it to a rural setting.

However since we were unable to raise enough funds for the borehole intime, the training has been moved to Bunga Kampala where there is water. This doesnt in anyway change the subject of adapting this technology and when water is available, this project will be transfered to the village. I know some of you mentioned to me that the you couldnt make it as it was too far to come from your villages to Butambala for the training, hope you can make it now as it has been moved to Kampala. The training will take place from tuesday 8 December for 3 days. I hope you can attend and it will give us a great platform to see how we can develop our villages further.

Kind regards.

Vegetable seeds for nursery bank.

Status: Stalled

Dear all, we have now started working on this project. Various organic vegetable seeds are being sought near and far in a bid to have various seeds available for the seed bank come next year.

Some of these seeds will be given to the farmers to grow and will need to save the seed from what they use for home consumption. We are hoping to get a contract with a hotels / restaurants whom we will supply melons who in turn will give us the seeds back at a small discount.

Mr Lubwama Fred has very kindly donated seeds worth $174.50 from

Southern Exposure seed exchange. For this we are very thankful for his generosity.

Water project - Borehole drilling

Status: Stalled

Dear all, Our village needs your urgent assistance.

For the past months we have been looking at ways to help the village and are glad to say that the process of improving the lives of residents in our village has now started although a little earlier than i anticipated due to commitments of various volunteers that cant be changed.

Mr Charlie Price, director of Acquaponics UK is to visit our village in early(1st-14th) December 2009 to train our staff, volunteers and other neighbours in Acquaponics. However our major probelem is that we have not yet managed to raise all the amount of money necessary to drill a borehole.

The total cost is... £300 GBP (1 Million Uganda Shillings)

Money raised so far is. £50

Balance ...............£250

I humbly request all wellwishers to assist us as it would be rather impossible to fetch water from very far to use where the project is going to be located.

Your assistance in this matter will be highly appreciated.

Thank You

Joanne Birungi
