We would appreciate advice from a specialist in natural building / earth building. However, if any one has info on where we can get step by step instructions that can help too, thank you.
Project: Bamboo Craft & Building Technology

Type in the above and thousands of pages come up. It was invented by an engineer in Colombia by the name of Ramirez.
The cinvaram makes a brick but the machine above makes what I would call a block since it is the size of a concrete block. That would take less labor but you have more labor than money to buy a big machine.
We have now bought 1000 Moso Bamboo seeds that we will plant to kickstart this project.

JOanne - attached is a 50 page booklet that outlines the 'how to' of the ISSB blocks you were originally talking about - the mud blocks. I think if the press machine is $1200 - it could be split among 3-4 villages and passed around? I am sending it to Ken and Simon to look at and read. Do you have the info again where to buy the block presser in Kampala? Thanks

Ginger :)
Every village needs to know about this website: www.cd3wd.com Has info on many subjects including construction.
I read the attachment and I am impressed with the block machine. The Cinvaram is simple and cheap but takes a lot of labor to lay the bricks. The interconnecting blocks takes less mortor and less labor to construct a wall. Of course, it cost much more but is a wise choice in my opinion. It can be shared and will last for years.
Thanks Ken, very good website.

Thank you Ginger, most detailed info about the machines that i have come across so far.I know in Kampala its somewhere in Industrial area but was more interested in buying it from Haileybury trust since they offer training and assistance where possible instead of just buying a machine and getting on with it even when what you are doing isnt up to scratch. Below is their contact in Jinja and website.

We have planted the bamboo but have some three yrs + to wait for growth and drying. Other methods like the block machine is expensive so we are exploring the work of the architect Nader Khalili of Calearth.
