Pig farming as an income generating business

Status: Needs urgent help
Time needed:
A week
Step:
1

We need advice on local pig feeds, forage so any ideas are welcome so that we can supplement the maize bran and eventually reduce costs on feed.

This project has just started and we aim to have it up and running in January 2010. we have 5 youths who have already signed up for this project and need your help to make it happen.

We have raised so far the money for the local piglets but have no accomodation and would like to build something permanent to ensure continuity of the project.

Your assistance financial or otherwise will be highly appreciated.

Attached is our project proposal.

Project: Pig farming

Ken Hargesheimer is the expert - I will attach an article he prepared. Hope this will help. Also, Suzanne Birungi has received her drip kits from the US, which might help you to build yours.

off topic - but I didn't find a proper one!! Can we see pictures of the pigs and how they have grown??? Tey must be at least double in size by now. What are you feeding them?

Hi everyone, been awhile but atlast here's the update on this projecct.
The pigs are now four months and the ones shown in the pictures are the better breed. They are in the unfinished pig sty as you can see but we can not spend any money on completing it at the moment as what we originarily allocated is all spent so we are waiting to finish it when we sell the piglets. The local breed pigs and Male Camborough are still in the old housing for now.

I have been so busy the last 2-3 months, I just realized yesterday I was no longer on Nabuur. I am back to help. Stevia does not need processing except for drying the leaves to use later. To sweeten coffee, just drop in a leaf. To sweeten food, just crumble in the dry leaves. I am not speaking from experience but stevia info can be found at http://prairieoakpublishing.com. Jeff is the guru of stevia in the USA.
