Introduction of new Facilitator
Hello to all neighbours of Buterere!
My name is Anna and as of today I am officially the new facilitator of Buterere. I have been working with Jean-Claude over the past week to get up to speed on the project to date, learning about the goals he holds for his village as well as what has been happening thus far.
I am 20 years old and live in Canada. I am a university student currently studying sociology and political science, focusing mainly on international relations. I have a great passion for Africa that started from a very young age for no apparent reason. In 2008 and again in 2009, I spent a number of months as a volunteer teacher in Ghana. I lived in a very small village and am now working with that village to help build a computer lab and secondary school. Aside from volunteering at Nabuur, I am an online volunteer with an NGO in Cameroon and I am helping to develop a project/funding proposal for a program that will support orphans and vulnerable children.
Now that I have introduced myself I would very much like to hear from all of you. Please tell us all a little about yourself, why you joined neighbour and what skills you have to offer. And if you have any further questions about me, please drop me a line and I will happily respond.
I am looking forward to working with all of you on this project! In the next few days I will post a summary of what has been accomplished since Jean-Claude brought Buterere to this site. I will also post a memo on what the next and most important tasks will be and hopefully we can keep this project rolling.
All the best, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Your new facilitator,
Anna

Hello All and especially Anna,
I am a 52 year old Father and Husband, I have two sons aged 16 and 21. My wife and I are very privileged by luck to have been raised in the most fortunate of situations. Our Life has had its challenges and difficulties but we have been blessed by having Peace and Prosperity. In recogition of the fortunate lives we have lead It was my wish to do something for the least fortunate of our World Family. This ethic is what brought me to Nabuur. Our previous facilitator used the brilliant phrase to hold the idea in our minds, and I feel like some disciple guarding the light that was lit by Jean-Claude. He and the community have a grand dream, Public Health is surely the most cost-effective of social development programs. I forsee a day that a simple rammed-earth building shaded by trees of fruit and food-bearing economical usefulness. surrounded by groups of women teaching each other life skills. Alongside them, the men of the community teach trades and skills to small groups of children learning vocations. Orphanage or community centre it can be what ever the peoplre of Buterere desire to make it we have refreshed our dream and awoken to a new day.
Thank you for joining our village Anna, together we can each plant one of Jean-Claudes feet back firmly on the ground. We must focus as usual on generation of wealth, perhaps by harnessing the natural capital of Africa, the agricultural wealth of nations is the basis for all growth. Perhaps a model of development can be a self-sufficient village incorporating rainfall collection, intensive agriculture, on community teaching level would entice the community to engage better with the Health education model?
As you see I, like Jean-Clausde am a dreamer or visionary type but also I have other talents.I look forward to our involvement.
Ewan M. Quirk
