Identify programs to be held at BCDC to generate revenue
Status:

Step:
2
Help us to identify projects that could be held at BCDC to generate revenue to maintain the facility and the programs it offers. Sample projects in Burundi or worldwide are appreciated
Some ideas from Jean-Claude are: basic studio of music and film production, fast food restaurant, internet café, film night, music concert, etc.

Currently we are working on establishing a basic studio for production of audiovisual materials: DVD, CD audio production and distribution as well as newsletters in format of PAPERS, PHOTO IMAGE JPEG, (it still a project that we have undertaken recently). Finished products can be marketed and sold to produce income for BCDC.
NOTES: If we can start to identify emails (of NGOs who can be interested to read this article), we sould send a mass mail to more 100 contacts to see that we can meet 2 interested to cooperate on BCDC project.
I am now writing to ask if anyone can tackle the task in the 'note'.

For your informaiton: I have in my home office a burner which burns 7 each time and cost me US$700. I have a Primera Bravo II autoprinter which cost me US$1200. I put the data or video into my computer and burn it to a CD/DVD. Then burn copies and print them.
Is there a market for this service?
Such businesses require high outside inputs of funds and sometimes expertise.
Hello Ken,
This offer could be an opportunity for the youth of Dromankese to establish their own business with this CDs / DVDs Burning and printing business. The community would be more responsible to undertake this venture to generate some profits to support other activities in the village.
Actually, these goods would have to be shipped and cleared at the customs in Ghana, So what could you do to ship these goods to Tema Port in Ghana. We would like to be informed about the total cost involved.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,

Alfred,
I provided the info to let you know the cost involved in burning/printing DVDs. Hopefully you can purchase the equipment in Ghana for less. The cost of buying and shipping from the USA would be a lot of money that someone would have to provide. I pay US30¢ for a DVD and US20¢ for a CD. Remember a DVD has 6 times more room on it that a CD.
I question that there is much business for burning/printing unless you are in a large city. This needs a lot of investigation before going forward.
That is why I encourage people to farm and sell food. Takes almost no funds if one has the land. Just money for seed and bucket drip irrigation. There is a market for food and especially for organic food. Grow and sell crops that no one else has: spaghetti squash, sweet maize, popping maize, popping sorghum, baby maize, watermelon, etc.
Hello Ken,
I like your suggestions and comments!
The purpose of this program "STUDIO FOR AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION", is not to produce only, but also share or DISTRIBUTE.
What product’s content?:
It will be like “Journal of BUSINESS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SCIENCES “FARMERS SUPPORTERS” it may be called "FARMER MEDIA NEWS":
-The Journal will teach about new farming methods, environment preservation, climate change, and stimulate population in business activities such as FOOD training, small marketing, ADVERTISE about “CLIMATE CHANGING….”
-We need to use MEDIAS RADIO AND CHANNEL Televisions to reach many people. Simplify by PRODUCING CD, DVD in our local language “KIRUNDI (as well as in English, French,...) but with focus in KIRUNDI (a language which is understood, spoken not only in Burundi, but also in Rwanda...
- Our last surveys show that there is an emergency need to INVOLVE EFFORTS, TIME, AND ALL RESSOURCES in IMPROVING AGRICULTURE AND (ELEVAGE???) , It show also that media news, print and broadcasting company have a major role to spread the messages at a very shortest time to reach to many as many people . Furthermore, in Buterere we have Journalist volunteers, Students in arts, languages, communication, skilled volunteer in DVD and audio producing, So why not to start PRODUCING DVD on Buterere Farming activities? And Improve AGRICULUTES FOR FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY while secure also our environment?
NOTES: it is also another kind to start story telling, gathering people (small farmers....entrepreneurs), discuss wit them on KEY TOPICS (FOODS, HUNGER, NUTRITION, water, ...) and produce them into our small studio, burner them on TO BE SENT TO MEIDAS, INTERNET MULTIMEDIAS.....
We need to show the reality of our culture, food and nutrition insecurity causes and consequence to all worldwide (HOPE TO BUILD A LARGER TEAM OF CHANNEL MEDIAS such as BBC, to receive our documentary short films...)
What do you think?
