Space for creative suggestions by neighbours
Status: 
We've designed the current project to be demand-driven. That means that us neighbours get active whenever there is a local request for us to help. We've set up the project in this way to ensure that it's the local people who own this project, that it is their project.
Nevertheless we now realize that we also need a space in this project where neighbours can post their creative suggestions. As you're working to help Buterere, ideas may come up in your mind that might be useful for the project and that you would like to share although they don't fit into any current task. Please share them here.
From time to time we'll put your suggestions to the local team for decision. They will decide a) to carry-out an idea, b) to postpone an idea or c) not to carry it out. Whatever their decision we'll let you know here and tell you why, too.

The local group is very pleased to post a plan so that all neighour can comment on it. In the current activities with high impact, we place VIDEO/FILM for EDUCATION in the heart of all programs. We need to teach about TRUTH and FORGIVENESS, promote Reconciliation and Peace to overcome all Humanitarian right violation. So We need to use FILM/VIDEO PRODUCED in AFRICA for AFRICANS and by African and with specialisation (copy right MADE IN AFRICA),
We strongly believ in SCREEN Education using these new ICT to bring people together,pleasure for those who have hoplessly losted and psychosocially ill. ( using Film and music to buiild our world, and develop partnership with all/Young and adults.
So to set up a small scall industry for Film Production in the pursposes of Eduction, gender equality/humantarian matters is a primal goal, and teach about PRODUCTION OF FILMS AND MUSICS FOR TV is the short term.
I am pleased to inform you that local are working on:
-Writting a short story of a short film/Video (about 3-5) munities to be developed for Fundraising at youtube.
The local FIL Team's centre of activities: HIV/AIDS, Experimental film,...
They suggested to provide guidance, advices on various issues to make the film short, good, and clear. They will provide a theme soon.
Q:Can we reduce the munites?, is it too long?,...
Strategic plan 2008-2009
CURRENT PROGRAM/ACTIVIES:
To develop a plan to be presented to funders, donors, corporation for a home FILM producing and music for TV recording for the promotion of HUMARIGHT matters education-raising voice.
Home recording& home making: A small production industry of film/Movies and music recording (Film all genre: mini documentary, long and shorts…using current production manner, camera effects, software…)
Log term activities:
-Implantation of a FILM and Music recording small industry with speciality “MADE IN AFRICA FOR AFRICANS BY AFRICANS”.
Court activities:
-Self-help Group on Film making facilitated by Online Team
- YOUTUB Fundraising short film /video preparation: ideas gathering, local actor identification…
-Local Gatherings on Film and music for TV in Burundi and teenage and journalism, to initiate local Medias and arts supporters and develop a small collaborative strategic
-Provide daily Film education in Children; women and youth on various topics
-Assessment of all formalities to produce and tie partnership with local Medias NGOs
- Imaging, camera techincs, speaking, information preparation and saving and Computers skills to initiate local team
-Journalism and Leadership in Communication
-Provide daily Film education in Children; women and youth on various topics
-Preparation of FILM Festival Show in Burundi Film for development of the Community (a Fundraising event using our Short production film produced to be posted at YOUTUB)
-Long Course on FILM AND MUSIC PRODUCTION
NOTE: Short film /video/movie for YOUTUBE: would be developed to be presented to DONORS, FUNDERS for request assistance.
THEME of short Film: will be developed /designed to show how people of limited means can begin to develop their skills /artistic abilities for their self-sustainability and community development.

It is great that you have got together to collect all this information.
I just have a few questions that might help you get some more focus on what you are planning to do.
You are mentioning different activities. Some of them short term and some long term.
- You mention you are working on a short story for a video. How do you plan to shot this. With what camera?. Would you plan to look for a camera first?
- How do you plan to use the video for fund raising?.
- For what specific actions would you need funding?
- What type of training do you have or would like to have to start the film making business.
Maybe a set of clearer steps could be identified to ensure there is a clear order of ideas and steps that are adjusted to the local reality and that would make it clear things can happen in a gradual and rational way.

I would like to inform you that I posted a not finilised document, the local team is steal working on identifying primal/specific activities to be carried out on the first.
Do not estonished by serveral activities, it is because there are 2 major groups (Actors/Drama or poet group) and Singers. All are artists.
There activities we will focus on is FILM and music Production
-Video/Short film planning: Because the group is available, the members are planning by gathering ideas of a film, how it should be... Realy they/we don't have experiences on making films only have brainstorms and we can present them to you so that to help identifying wether are useful, well planed... We don't know how to write them, so the training on FILM sounds that can come in the urgent /Thirst needed in our local activities.
-We are not planning how to shot this film as we are not yet presenting the drafts of ideas, so that you can help us in these. We don't have also any video or camera, we work only on specific activities: Gathering actors (youth who are interested in Film;...) and secure meeting and provide to them information/advices you provide to us.
-Also Educational material (Film, TV post, a digital camera and a camera for images/mouvies) are also other primal ressources to be mobilised in the thirst stage in order to go ahead in these ideas FILM.

- How do you plan to use the video for fund raising?: Only by Preparing a short documentary story film about a community, include gaps, suggested solution and whare are being done to end gaps. A small documentary would be sent to all Humanitarian aid or Socio-Economic adovocators.This would depends on the kind of story. It can be to a humanitarian documentary film ( a song which conver gender violation, or other human right matter: war and Peace declaration,...
- For what specific actions would you need funding?: We are shosing it from a list, but what comes now is: Fundraising for a camera. In case you mean HOW WE PLAN TO USE VIDEO FOR FUNDRAISING: We need a training on Film writting, producing and Music for TV recording. and we will go ahead with others progressively.
- What type of training do you have or would like to have to start the film making business: We don't have any skills in these issues (FILM MAKING) and we have reasearch sincce a long period in Burundi actors who may be have these skills, and found that there are only fewest people, currently we know a man called NGABO Leonce, a Burundian artist singer. He is not currently based in Burundi, but out. He was trained in the Film making, and produced one Film called-GITO l'Ingrat (There are many years ago) and he was here in Burundi last year I tried to see him but was very busy.
Yes, we need to start from 0 Stage to the end. But some of the team has only vocational skills because they used to play sckecht, peoms theatle.
Please, note that in Burundi there is no any Training school in Arts: FILMS, MUSIC, JOURNALISM,... there is no any University, nor college,nor Center for FILM and Music production. Even if Journalists, are trained out side of the state, or develop skills in University in specific faculty of Journalism. Also, there is only ONE Chain TV which is legally known for the whole state on Burundi (RADIO TELEVISION NATIONAL OF BURUNDI-RTNB. But there is a new Chain TV under review which is name is Télé Renaissance, it is not yet agreered. Under tests.
So there is a great need to develop these skills in young people as they are looking for to explain themeselves by using MEDIAS.

Hello Raul, I was obliged to help the local team which is working on the Script as I have now small ideas on SCRIPTWRITTING (note from the link provided). Really I was totally 0 on this and the team too. They suggested that I will work with them as I am lacked to be online and benefit direct online guidances from you. And because I am also a fun of Medias and arts issues, I totally agreed and we are working on SCRIPT and I will be able to provide them to you soon!

Me again. I just wondered if you had heard of sound healing? I am currently doing a course on it and it is about getting people together, and singing in community, and using sound to heal.
You don't need any equipment or tools to do it, just your voice!! :-D

As you know our NGO ASASS-burundi works hand in hands with national and International Youth NGOs, and I, as a National Focal Point for Global Youth Coalition on AIDS based in USA {GYCA} I was nominated to organised and coordinate Researches "National Youth Shadow Reports for the 2008 Review of the United Nations General Assembly Special Session Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS)"
Research are expected to held at the National and Community levels. There are guides for every research. I was working on involving local team {some because other are also owning small task of our project}.
We did researches and gathered informations about Burundi {SEE ATTACHED, but we need to organise them. As we have many information about our community I would like to ask if neighbours can help us to draft reports on the community levels. I will provide all information on the project of Buterere or find them in various documents in OUR ACHIEVEMTN section.
Research are expected to provide youth recommandation,
achieving Universal Access for young people by 2010:
- Political Commitment
- Financial Commitment
- Access to Services
- Level of Youth Participation
- Research and Data Collection

I've been thinking of some ideas for workshops you could do. I don't know if you've heard of Natalie Rogers but she's developed an expressive arts approach to healing which she calls 'The Creative Connection'.
It involves using dance, art, writing, sound, music and meditation to connect to ourselves and each other. She believes that one art can stimulate another and help us to go deeper within ourselves, heal our pain and the world, creating community and oneness.
She's written a book called 'The creative connection: Expressive arts as healing' which is full of ideas and exercises you could use.
I'm actually experimenting with them on myself and hope to try and use them with others.
I could perhaps send you a copy of the book if you feel it would be of help.
