My name is Joseph Makwakwa and the name of our village is Njeleza. Our village is located 25 km from the trading centre where we have the nearest health centre. The nearest district hospital is about 50 km. As a result expectant mothers do not go to antenatal clinics. Most of the women give birth within the village with poor health environment and mostly, without a nurse or midwife. Even when they give birth, most of the few lucky children are not taken to under five clinics. Because of this, we have very high motality rate in our village and even the surrounding areas. The high motality rate and deaths of expectant mothers is attributed to lack of Underfive clinics and antenatal centre, it is therefore an important issue in our area.

(i) A community based safe motherhood program to ensure pregenant women recieve basic services and benefit from timely referral services and;
(ii) A Home Based care program which targets underfive children to ensure they recieve early treatment within 24 hours
