The people in chibolya has different types of tribes and languages due to the migration of people in the 19th century. This led to the split of many tribes to go and stay in parts of Zambia.

The tribes found in the area are tonga , nyanja, senga , lozi and many others.

Due to the good land for farming people started settling in the banks of the kafue river and moved inwards in search of good pustures for their animals.

Later these people were forced to live by the settlers who claimed land. Then some of the people remained in the area and permanently stayed south of mazabuka town called chibolya. However, the movement of people were collectively called the bantu botatwe.
