Dear neighburs

We respect your contribution for the gamauli people and school children. There are two projects in pipeline or in que. Construction of two classroom is taking long time and we are not finding any donor. It is most urgent project for the school. Here I would like to request again. Pls make your small contribution and we can see the big result for these innocent children.
Next one is water bottle and tiffin boxes project. Mrs. Sara is working on this project and I hope she will make it complete near future.

Here I would like to request to other neighbours for warm cloths. November to February is most cold duration here in Gamauli. Some of the children cannot attend school because they do not have warm cloths. Last year I made small contribution that I collected some sweeters here in Kathmandu and distributed to 60 students.

This year I am trying from a month ago here in Kathmandu but not getting success. Since I request to neighbours for this small support.

Sincerely your's

Dear Jennifer

Thanks for your update. I am still in contact with sabina and she is going to start the remaining items.

I wanted to let everyone know what's going on with the money transfer for the funds that were raised. We submitted the bank information for the transfer, but unfortunately, they ask for at least a month to get the transfer accomplished. Apparently they only have one part-time accounting person on staff who handles these things for them and they are a bit behind in getting dispersements out.

I asked them for an estimated time frame-they gave me Feb. 12th as a target date. The money will be transferred to ECC and then Min will pay Sabina for the remaining items. Min has already been in contact with Sabina as he indicated and I believe the women have already started knitting so as not to avoid further delays.

That's where we're at for now!

Yes Jennifer,
you are right, I am regular touch with Sabina and the kniting work is already started. I will follow the remaining activites when the budget transfered to ECC account. But I am afraid because you said that the money is Canadian dollars. If so it will be not sufficient according to the price list given by sabina.

Remember there was money built into the budget we presented for things like transportation, shoes, and the hats which actually ended up being paid for outside of the GiveMeaning Fundraiser. You can use the funds designated for the shoes and the hats toward covering those expenses. I included the shoes as an extra item because we originally thought we had enough budgeted. The main thing is to make certain the sweaters, gloves and mufflers are covered first. After that, the extra built into the budget is meant to cover expenses for getting the items to the children. There should be enough there to cover the remaining items and pay Sabina.

Okay, I will do that accordingly.

I inquired with GiveMeaning staff today and they tell me that the funds for the clothes were transferred on Saturday, 2/7/09. Please check your email for additional details and keep us posted as to the progress once you're able to pay Sabina.

Just a quick update to let everyone know what's happening:

After being told that the funds had been transferred from GiveMeaning to the ECC bank account on Saturday, Min went to the bank a few days later and was told no transfer had been received. I followed up with the GiveMeaning staff who informed me there had been a problem with the transfer, but they were able to get that worked out. A few days ago, Min checked the bank again and the funds were there.

Unfortunately, the $800 we projected for the project ended up being less than we expected once the funds were transferred due to the funds being raised in Canadian currency instead of USD. Min and I have discussed that we had built into the budget funds for transportation, shoes and the hats (which were paid for early), which could all be used to make sure we get the sweaters, gloves and mufflers made first.

Min was planning to try to take the money to Sabina's office today to pay for the remaining items. I am still hopeful that we will have enough to get the 110 that we originally planned for, but if not, we've prioritized the sweaters first.

Things are still in motion with this-the items will be provided in preparation for next winter since the weather has now warmed up in Gamauli, but they will still be of great value to the students come winter.

We will continue to provide updates on this task as things progress.

Please message me next time you are online. I think you misunderstood my suggestion to you in relation to the shortage and want to make sure it is clear.

I am going to go ahead and close this task now. Min has paid Sabina's group in Yoshinkhel to craft the sweaters and mufflers from the fundraising project. The weather has now broken in Nepal so it is not as cold, but these items will be kept safe to use for next winter. I have sent Sabina an email tonight to inquire if they are completed yet. Once they are finished, Min will need to pick them up for safe-keeping when he returns to Kathmandu.

Thank you to all who helped to make this a successful fundraiser.
