Advise on start up costs and materials required for reusable sanitary pad project

Status: Finished
Time needed:
A week
Step:
1

We really need volunteers to work out costings and other information for this initial startup please.

Shortly we will add on a basic kit pattern and materials needed for sanitary kit so this can be worked out better. We are currently researching the best one. From this we will create a list of materials needed. Then the volunteer must find out the costs of the materials that can be bought locally in the region of the Project. It may be that some materias may even not be available locally, this too is part of this process. Or a substitute may be looked into.

Volunteer/s role

1 To work out how many sanitary pad kits should be made (can contact us for more information)Perhaops some questionares must be done.
2 How much materials and resources are required
3 What materials and resources are available or not available in the area
4 What materials or resources must be sourced elsewhere
5 Work out the total costs involved
6 Who will make them and how many people?

Kabondo village in Kenya http://www.nabuur.com/en/village/kabondo/project also looked at this. They received some pads from abroad, and produced a report on their use. They also had some patterns and care instructions. I have not found this on their village but think I have it somewhere, or can get hold of it. Have also put out a request on Facebook asking anyone who has experience of doing this in Kenya to get in touch. As Fountain Youth gives entrepeneur training to young people, it would be a great idea for them to be doing the local research into likely costs themselves as that will be an essential skill if they want to set up their own businesses in the future. Maybe some of your international onsite volunteers can help them with this, using it as a teaching project.
