Adjust the business plan for ICT training for orphans in Jinja (Phase I)

Status: Finished
Step:
2

The current business plan consists of setting up ICT training AND starting an internet café. Because the startup of the internet café is very expensive, Paul would like to start with the IT training first.

Please help write this Business Plan - Phase I.
The current business plan will be the starting point. Most of the information needed is already available.

Dear all,

The computer training is well underway. Therefore i'll close this task.

Dear Ruth,

God bless on your trip and we hope you will inspire others to do the same. Disabilities do not limit people's capabilities and you all demonstrated a motivation for all of us to follow.
God bless and all the best! :-)

Dear all,

Paul is working together with FairGround Sessions, a Dutch organization, in order to arrange a trip for 6 people with disabilities & 6 buddies from the Netherlands. They will come to Jinja to do voluntary work and exchange ideas with BEHOD. FairGround Sessions is advertising this trip as we speak (attached brochure in Dutch)

We'll keep you posted!

Hi Sushmita,

Yes, we could work together on the small solar solutions... I don't find it useful though to copy all Jean Claude's needs into Jinja's discussions.

It has offices in different countries of the world.so you have to please find contact -e- mail- id ,from the contact details-(it is under "About KLM"),which is at the right side of the website. You bring the pointer of the computer there, you will find,"several sub-headings" under that.At the second sub-heading is the "Contact Information"

If you know where the donated things are coming from, call airlines to inform you, when there is space left in the aeroplane.

Though i am not sure, but as far i think, you have to first contact Dutch airlines office of your country Because contacting over phone the country ,where the things are donated,it will be too expensive for you.

Warm regards,

First thoughts on usefulness:

Business plan:

Expenses:
- monthly internet costs are not correct: the service charge mentioned for a connection is a monthly fee, not a one of... so the monthly costs are $ 300 higher.

Income:
- No income is calculated for the computer trainings and the internet cafe :-(
- the sale of softdrinks seems to be a great source of income, but I can't find where these figures come from?

Overall there's too much information missing in order to be useful.

Power Supply System:
The document contains an overview of a few options: batteries versus diesel generator.
I guess this contains useful information for the new discussion here

Dear all,

The students from Cals College have completed their assignment. I've attached their report (though a bit big to download).

Thanks for sharing your ideas, guys! And good luck with the school exams you're facing now :-D

Hi Jean Claude,

Better late than never... quite a busy spring time here...

Good to see the similar ideas between the two projects. Perhaps we can start with sharing ideas about the small solar power solutions?

We've opened a discussion about them here.
I'll have a look at your site too, to see what you're doing!

Keep in touch!

:-D

Dear all,

It's been quiet lately, but we didn't sit still. Via NABUUR office we got in touch with FairGround Sessions (FGS), a Dutch organisation that combines tourism and volunteering. A Dutch company might be interested in sponsoring BEHOD for a longer term (1 to 2 years). Other than that, FGS seems interested in visiting the place on their regular trips as they already pass by Jinja.
This would mean a lot of additional attention (and hopefully contributors) for the activities of BEHOD :-D

Attached you'll find the application Paul and I put together for FGS.

Dear all volunteers,

Really I am very attracted by yoour friendly works here! I am the Local Representative of Buterere Community. When I read your post, I totally was attracted by the messages and would like to explain how much our community (Buterere Community in Burundi-Bujumbura) is wishing to develop collaboration with UGANDA-Jinja Center.

We have revised our old plan and volunteers provided the Brainstorms ideas:

There are actives volunteers, students and young professionals to offer: trauma and HIV counselling - training on disease prevention, family planning and balanced nutrition - arts and media courses helping the youth to express themselves - sports and music events that raise awareness on disease prevention.

We have also dened Income generation activities:

-DIY Solar and ICT trainings
-Environmental programs (Planting Moringa Tree plenting, education of Farming,

- We strongly believe ECOLOGICAL and cross-culture programs through Arts and Environmental activities(Moring tree) using ECOTOURISM,

we would be glad to collaborate with you all and develop close collaboration.

NOTE: WE NEED YOUR INPUT TO HELP US WITH FINDING AIRLINES WHICH CAN TRANSPORT 4 Computers raised ( 2from Nigeria and 2 from Germany). We approached Kenya and Ethiopian airlines for shipments but no positive results, if you know others to help Buterere it would be great

Good news for the extended business plan:
Stefan and Joël are processing the information Paul sent to them (although I heard it wasn't really all they needed) and I have written a thorough piece on future management. It gives an analysis of what might be done with the organisation in terms of investing after phase 2 is complete :)

I will post it tomorrow or the day after
(tuesday is the deadline for our final paper)

greetings,

Marc
