You can send money from a lot of places but only receive it in a few, none of which are in Africa. From a Nabuur-wide point of view, you CAN receive in India and some of the central/south American countries. And it may be worth dropping them an email to ask if they are intending to expand... According to their website Moneybookers works everywhere. I only know one person in Uganda who has tried it and he has had a few problems withdrawing money but I don't think that is a general thing... There is very limited help information at http://www.moneybookers.com/app/faq.pl To get more information you have to be registered on the system (which I am not), then you can get it via the Messaging Centre accessible from http://www.moneybookers.com/app/help.pl?s=contact The bank you withdraw the money to has to be connected to the SWIFT network. Only other options I know of are using Western Union or MoneyGram, both of which are quick but charge quite high fees, or via direct bank transfer which also charges high fees and can take a while. Should also be safe. I haven’t used the service, though, so I can’t tell you first-hand experience. - this is some sort of service for international money transfers, works in Uganda as well [url=http://duales.com/eng/Content/home.asp]http://duales.com/eng/Content/home.asp[/url] However, I don’t think that’s what you look for, it seems more like a bank card for individuals. Still, you might take a look. - Postal money orders are said to be safe, but I’m sure they’re really slow. I’ve also searched through NGOs in Uganda, to see how are they receiving donations. Didn’t find any organization using the Paypal scheme that’s actually based in Uganda. So, as Mary said, it probably doesn’t work for receiving money. I saw that orgaizations use either bank transfers or post for receiving money. I have sent four times to Uganda now. The fees are also less than bank transfers. Someone has to go to the nearest location to receive the funds, but all they need is the sender information (name and address) and a reference number. People can also send funds via the Internet with Moneygram, which makes it convenient for senders and a link to moneygram can be made on the My Space page. I have always sent to Kampala. I'm not sure if there are other locations in Uganda.
