I am Ugandan and its on this basis am commenting about the newspaper article about free mosquito nets. Free mosquito nets have been offered by international organisations for the whole of my life and that is a very good 29 yrs. Am sorry to say this but if they ever reached the people who need them most, why would children be dying of malaria still. These mosquito nets are stolen by officials and resold expensively to the poor who cant even afford them in the first place. This data is even available with the BBC who did a documentary about Aid in Uganda and Sierraleone. If we believed all we read in newspapers / tabloids then every poor Ugandan would be having a small benefit of $10 every month. Dont know any who has got it. The major benefit of Nabuur in such situations is the barriers it breaks, the ability of helping those who havent been helped or help hasnt reached yet and have to wait another 20 yrs and only if they are lucky will they be alive to see the day. Vijay, help and assistance locally in Uganda isnt easily obtainable. You can even walk for a whole 3 months to be able to see the person concerned and still even when you manage to see them no assistance is forthcoming. In my village, i have sought assistance about digging a borehole for more than a year yet i have the($400) required under the aid programme. All i keep getting are promises, they want to frustrate you so that you offer them $6000 to dig a borehole yet they are using it machinery under the aid programme.
