They also operate a school partnership program which HCFA participates in, called Books as Bridges, that matches students in U.S. schools with students in African schools as pen-pals. I believe that HCFA also received some books from Darien Book Aid (http://www.darienbookaid.org/Foreign_Requests.html) so you could give them a try as well. Also try some of the book donors on my list at https://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgs9fnp6_0g5zp8p3n - the majority will donate the books and ship them for free too. There are also some groups on there who may be able to donate sewing machines too. And some Ugandan organisations listed here http://www.nabuur.com/en/village/masaka/project/wiki/shared-document-wiki-find-books-school-library-reading-and-textbooks I don't think Christopher (Masaka Local Rep) had any luck with these but you could still try.
