The Good and Mercy Missions, Jinkfuin, is working to get a 5 million CFA ($10,000) grant for the implementation of programs, activities, and workshops for the disabled.

The Goodness and Mercy Missions is a non-profit organization established in Cameroon. The organization was made effective to provide assistance to the men, women, and children with disabilities of the Northwest region of Cameroon. The charitable institution is focusing on assisting the rural poor in general, although the major organizational emphasis is been put towards the disadvantaged, disabled, and physically challenged.

Proposal Description

A major issue facing the disabled in rural regions is their capacity to participate in social activities that would enable them to meet their primary needs for sanitation, education, food, and basic living. Disability is all too often regarded as a curse in rural regions, which only goes to undermine the availability of work for the disabled and the social recognition they deserve form their peers.

In an attempt to dignify these individuals, the Goodness and Mercy Missions is engaging into the elaboration of activities capable to generate worthy skills for people with disabilities, in particular, through handicraft design methods and procedures, as well as through the distribution of micro-grants for viable small businesses that people with disabilities can participate in.

An example of viable small businesses for people with disabilities in our region is the resale of local palm oil. Because of the prior success we have witnessed in the resale of palm oil, our organization has been considering to establish a small grants program to offer grants in the equivalence of $200 each or 100,000 CFA to assist men and women with disabilities desiring and considered capable of sustaining such a small business activity. Although the grants are intended for palm oil businesses, the organization would also consider other small business opportunities assisting people with disabilities in establishing small enterprises of the sort.

Goodness and Mercy Missions, a registered non-profit organization with the government of Cameroon, has successfully raised the funds necessary to construct two semi-permanent classrooms for the children of Jinkfuin. Four additional classrooms are operating out of rented rooms.

For this portion of our project, our goal is to complete the addition of 4 classrooms to the existing school.
