Help set up family care for orphans

The most urgent needs in Kabondo are to organize educational support and care for HIV/AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children. The community wants to enable extended family members to care for orphans. This is less costly than setting up orphanages. The community has identified its problems as being Education, Health, Water, HIV/AIDS and Agriculture.

Besides it keeps the ties between orphans and their family members intact. The other needs the community wants to address are the threat posed by HIV/AIDS, Educational support to the less privileged, Access to clean water to prevent the occurence of water borne diseases which kills ,many people especially children and the health problems like malaria and water borne diseases e.g. diarhoea, cholera, dysentry, typhoid among others.

The community is seeking support for young orphans of 16 years and below. This problem has priority since investing in these youngsters at the formative stages of their lives is a great investment in the future of this community.

The community intends to help these orphans through extended family members or-guardians- and not through orphanages (established orphan homes), as these are normally expensive to run and also break the bond these orphans might have with the remaining members of their extended families following the death of their parents.
