Find organizations/individuals that could support the orphans with basic school materials

Status: Finished

We need organizations/individuals that could support the orphans with basic school materials.

Dear neighbours,

Welcome to this action needed! :-)

This is one of the first actions needed on NABUUR.COM that is endowed with a wiki. A wiki is a type of website that allows users to easily add, remove, or otherwise edit and change some available content. A wiki is a collaborative document to which every neighbour can contribute.

On NABUUR.COM, the wiki can be used to summarise the status of the Action Needed. No longer do neighbours have to read through the discussions to see where they can contribute. They can simply have a look at the wiki to see where their help is needed.

Another purpose of the wiki on NABUUR.COM is that it allows the neighbours to work together on a document like a businessplan, an action plan or on a proposal.

The wiki software has been recently added to this website. If you happen to encounter any bugs, please inform George Hoogendoorn, Project Manager of NABUUR.COM. His e-mail is george@nabuur.com .

I hope that this is enough on the software for now, this community needs your help! Let’s focus on this action needed! :-)

Warm regards,

Pim Kantebeen

When we are talking about raising basic school supplies for the orphans of the community, I believe this needs a little more clarification. Are we asking for monetary funding or for the collection of actual school supplies? I will contact the president of the Harvard Student Government Association to see what we as an organization would have the ability to do to assist the community. In the mean time, if someone would clarify what exactly we are raising, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Holly Carless

Thank you very much Holly for accepting to be a neighbour for the Kabondo community. When we talk about the orphan supplies we mean purchase of school uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, sanitary pads for a majority of girls here who cannot afford them and therefore cannot go to school, costs of basic medication especially for common ailments like malaria (which is the leading killer in this region), diarhoea etc. We are also talking of basic nutritional support for a small period as we introduce these families to kitchen gardening. We have put all these in the form of a project proposal which we can send to you so you can see the details and the extent of need. This support will be monetary though we will also be grateful if we can receive other material donation if there is a way we can receive them here.
Thanks very much

I have been a member of the school community here in Northern California for many years and feel that I can find school supplies as well.

I need to know if materials are to be mailed to your office or how do we get things to you?

Thank you David for offering to send some school supplies to the Kabondo community. I don't know the quantity of things you want to send. if they are small things i think you can send them as parcels through our box address.

We shall however require some small amount of money to clear the goods with the postal authorities once they reach hear. You can mark the goods "gift" so that this cost is significantly waived to us. But first i need to know the quantity of goods you may send. A container?

Dear Holly Carless;
Thank you very much for your patience and your willingness to help the orphans of Kabondo community get education and a decent livelihood. I have attached a proposal that details the areas for which we seek support for the orphans. This is just one way of helping them. The other would be getting families/individuals- may be in your country- who could each sponsor an orphan in Kabondo. You can go through this document and see if you can help support it wholly or partly.

We on the other hand welcome any other donations which may not be monetary but will be of great assistance to this youngsters.
Thanks

Dear Pastor Micheal,

Thank you very much pastor for offering to pray for the orphans and vulnerable children of Kabondo. You may not know it but yours will be the greatest contribution anyone will ever make for these young children. I know that with your prayers God will open doors and these orphans will get a decent livelihood and education to be able to grow up as responsible members of our society.

It is God who gives and if you intervene, i know hewill answer our prayers. May God bless you. I will inform the orphans that you are going to offer special prayers for them.

Dear IIdiko,

Thank you very much for your interest in our village and the plight of the orphans. You can help the orphans in so many ways. One way is to look for sponsors for individual children, source for donations in form of books, clothes and other things growing and disadvantaged children might need. The neighbours have also assisted us come up with a project proposal on vocational training for older orphans heading houeholds and for young orphans of ages 1- 15 years. I know Henry will attach them for your attention so you can help source for funding. For most children $200-300 wil help in a whole year for buying shoes, school uniforms, minor school levies, sanitary pads for girls who cannot attend school because of this, text books and exercise books and other personal effects. Assistance can also be to child headed households. An older orphan can be supported in vocational training e.g carpentry, welding, catering, dressmaking, motor mechanics so as to be able to help the other siblings. Do not hesitate to contact us should you require further information.

Sincerely,

Eric
