This is one of the first actions needed on NABUUR.COM that is endowed with a wiki. A wiki is a type of website that allows users to easily add, remove, or otherwise edit and change some available content. A wiki is a collaborative document to which every neighbour can contribute.

On NABUUR.COM, the wiki can be used to summarise the status of the Action Needed. No longer do neighbours have to read through the discussions to see where they can contribute. They can simply have a look at the wiki to see where their help is needed.

Another purpose of the wiki on NABUUR.COM is that it allows the neighbours to work together on a document like a businessplan, an action plan or on a proposal.

The wiki software has been recently added to this website. If you happen to encounter any bugs, please inform George Hoogendoorn, Project Manager of NABUUR.COM. His e-mail is george@nabuur.com .

Dear friends,

I have been reading this issue very carefully. I'm a father as you can see on photo quite a new one. To read this it hurts deeply. Nevertheless, to do some job which can help I have to turn off my heart for a moment and to use my head to full capacity.

What I'm trying to suggest is as follows. As a consultant for legal issues and a translator I think we have to first organize the "guardians" I mean the relative who will take care about the orphans. This will include some kind of a legal entity like NGO. I mentioning this because I'm worring about the source of funding for this people. We are not going to give them some kinds of business plans for starting their own business, won't we? In the form of the NGO we can ask for donations and means etc. Furthermore I can check the legislation and writhe the statute with the eventual project proposal for this new NGO for orphans.

One more thing please I'm having some trouble in using wiki it's my firt time. One more more thing and it's funny also. The nickname for my wife in serbian is Viki and it sounds the same like wiki. Like I was saying I'm having some trouble with viki not wiki. Please don't tell this to my wife.

I have been following keenly, the stories at Kabondo and all I feel I would like to pay a visit and familiarize myself with the situation at ground. This will give me an opportunity to interact with the concerned parties here, and even assess the environment and the kind of market, which will help me come up with a good business plan that fits the market.

Moreso, I have been to the nearest urban centre to Kabondo, the name is Oyugis Township and I realized that there are few if not one ICT centre(s) there so I think we should come up with a setup, I believe it will work.

Hi Nebojsa,

That’s a name and half, had to go back and spell check, anyway, what I mean here is, since I know the geographical location, I could link up with the Facilitator and find out what would interest the markets segment there (the young, old, middle age in question). You know you wouldn't come up for example with something complex from an urban setup and expect it to work out in a rural setup.

I am thinking that since the orphans are in a family care kind of setup, its better to empower those who take care of them e.g. what of gathering like ten women who would be comfortable with the idea of accommodating each like two/three orphans and assist them, (the women) start up a small venture that would generate subsistence income. They can then use some of the income in leasing out shambas/ farms and practice small-scale farming. I think this will encourage the rest of the community to have the zeal to accommodate the orphans since they will benefit directly also.

About ICT setup, what of setting up a cyber café, which would, offers apart from communication and secretarial services? I am sure with proper management, this would work. What is required for a start are like four to five computers and accessories find two computer literate staff and employ them but keep this on hold first.

Just a thought.
