Friends,
I am posting this on behalf of Jennifer. She has given us a brilliant source for transportation, which is www.stuffyourrucksack.com
It is an organisation that gets the assistance from travellers to deliver the goods. Could Jennifer or anyone find out what are the requirements or procedures for the delivery of the goods?
Cheers,
Az'farr
Dear Baginda and Neighbours

I know this was a topic that was discussed at the Dutch Innovation Seminar http://www.nabuur.com/en/group/nabuur-staff/news/2008/10/nabuur-live-dut...
Their main aim was to find a way to transport mosquito nets to Uganda (in which I believe they were successful), but I don't know if they came up with any more general solutions that would work for other villages too.
Az'farr - May be worth asking Nabuur staff if they have any more information on that?
Sushmita, From experience with another village, registering with Stuff Your Rucksack is easy - you just answer their questions, so hopefully that means you will be on there soon.
Mary
Az'farr, you just need to register the school with their website. When you register the school, you list what items are needed. Then people who are traveling to the area look at the list-if they can bring any of the items needed, they bring whatever they can when they travel-or at least this is my understanding.
Another benefit is that the travel organization associated with them features once a month one of the organizations that is registered in their newsletter which also helps to get the word out regarding what type of support is needed.
Jennifer

Dear Sushmita,
The list above portrays courier services used by individuals, organisations and mostly, commercial institutions.
I had an idea that we were looking for modes of transportation to deliver the goods without any charge. Please clarify.

Az'farr

Sushmita-
In your town where the school is located, are there any aid organizations that are active within the community? It might be possible to work with them if they have volunteers or others traveling in/out of the local area to transport some of the items that you need for minimal if any cost. It may be another avenue to consider.
Jennifer
Dear Jennifer
Sorry for delay!
Thank you a lots for your message!!!
My town is a small town(sub-divisional).Hardly any charities are there.
I am trying with one charity at the district town(2 hours by bus from my locality)-"Rotary".It's very slow!!!But still i am trying!!!
Let's hope for the best.
Thanks again for your concern and support for the school project and it's downtroddens.

Hey Sushmita,
Don't you have any contacts at all in Kolkata? You know, at least someone who could act as a messenger or connecting link...?
How are you communicating with Rotary Club anyways? Is there any progress/promise?
God bless~
Somdutta
Dear Somdutta
Thank you a lots for your message!!!
As my project is almost at the base level,so almost every contact work i do myself. If i ask anyone else to help me,i have to pay him/her.But sorry!!! to say,the project do not have sufficient fund to pay to others adequately.
Rotary progress is very slow!!!Actually Rotary club mainly consists of rich businessmen, who usually remain busy.So may be for that reason the progress with Rotary is very slow.
Sometimes i visit Kolkata or other places, when the school official work arises.
Thanks again for your concern and support for the school project and it's downtroddens.
Have very good weekend.

Dear Sushmita,
Although I'm usually busy with college and such activities, I do live in South Kolkata and I would be more than willing to help you run errands for the school from/in the city. You know, any such contact/connecting/mediating work that I can help with, I certainly would.
As for Rotary, I do not have any accurate knowledge of its functions and concerns, but I'm supposed to be initiated into Rotaract next year by a friend.
Let me know what you think.
God bless~
Somdutta
P.S. The weekend isn't here yet :( , and nor is it in Kalna, I'm sure! ^_^
Dear Somdutta
Thank you for your message.
