July Update
Dr. John Gilbert is finishing out his final 2 weeks at Arrow Web Hospital. We have been so privileged to have him working side by side our medical staff and happy to welcome him as our first international medical volunteer. Dr. Gilbert will be leaving Kenya on August 8th.
In September, we will be welcoming Wes Downer from the United States. Wes first learned about Arrow Web Hospital through Facebook. He has been working in Mexico filming a documentary. He hopes to do similar work in Kenya while visiting the hospital and the Kayole-Soweto area. We are really looking forward to his visit and to welcoming him in Kenya for the first time.
Our final NHIF inspection is also scheduled to take place this September. Unfortunately we may need to put this off again if we cannot secure the equipment necessary to meet the requirements. We have contacted Aid to Hospitals Worldwide and also Assist International to see if either organization can help us. Aid to Hospitals Worldwide has the equipment needed, but we still need to find a means to transport it. We are still waiting to hear back from Assist International. The equipment needed includes a:
1. Baby Incubator
2. Ultrasound Machine
3. X-Ray Machine
4. Dental Kit
If anyone has any ideas of a company or organization that may be willing to help sponsor transportation of the equipment needed, please let us know!
We are also exploring the possibly of welcoming some students from Kagulu, Uganda (the Kagulu village here at Nabuur) into our training class for patient care attendants in the coming year.
Attached are some pictures of Dr. Gilbert working in the hospital.
As always we are deeply grateful to each of you for your ongoing support of Arrow Web Hospital.
Kind regards-
Jennifer and Bramuel
