Edit and format website content

Status: Finished

Soon there will be a new website for Arrow-Web Hospital. The new website address will be www.arrowwebhospital.org. The new website is not yet posted because Steve, the designer wants to review each page with Bramuel before publishing it. I hope to also have a look before the site goes up as I've not yet seen it.

I will be leaving this task open for now because once it is posted, I would like for you all to have a look and make suggestions, or note any needed corrections. This has been a LONG road, so I know that both Bramuel and I will be extremely happy to have this task finally completed.

After looking at it more last night, I think we need to make an outline or flowchart of what information we want where. I know Alex is trying to help with that on the new site he's set up, but it still would probably be helpful to have an outline to work with to see what information goes where.

Hi Jennifer

Agreed, it would make sense to know the structure before we all start writing little bits that may not fit together!

Let me know when things are clearer and I will do what I can can to help.

I am specifically pulling parts out that I feel will work in the new page so no need to wait. We'll fit it together. Sophie is helping with another piece of it too. I think ultimately once it's all edited, it just needs reorganized into a more logical progression for the website viewer. That is all about the site structure-not so much about content. I hope that makes sense.

Please go ahead and move forward with it.

Hi Jennifer

Kind of makes sense. The aim is for pages to focus on the hospital rather than general situation? Does Bramuel have the text for us to work with, or just go with what is there and add to it a little to make it clearer?

May not get a chance to do anything with it until the weekend.

Again, Bramuel correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the structure is that Arrow-Kenya is the umbrella organization and Arrow-Web Hospital is one of their main initiatives. Sophie is working on reworking a piece of the website to explain that as an introduction. The way that I am envisioning this based on what the site looked like when we started is that the focus will be on the hospital with a small mention or maybe a link to a separate site that explains Arrow-Kenya as a whole. Our primary focus for the website is/should be the hospital information.

For the part that I gave you, the only text available is the text that is there, so you may need to develop it further where you think there should be additional information.

Does that help clarify?

Thanks Jennifer, that helps. Will aim to get on it over the weekend I hope, but I am rather like you in being part of quite a few projects!!!!

Hi Jennifer
That is correct ARROW-KENYA is the umbbrella of Arrow web hospital and the hospital is the only project on the ground.so in the current website you will find a small information about Arrow kenya.
thanks

Abey-

Some of the information is still in the process of being developed. There is much editing that needs to happen to the content of the old site and the information needs to be better organized so that it makes sense to the reader brousing the site. Alex has volunteered to try and come up with a new format for the website to help better organize the information, so we have been working a lot this week on edits to the content of the old page so that it can be placed on the new page. Once that is done, I think it will be a lot easier to see if anything else is needed.

Bramuel and I will be talking more about this over the weekend and updates will be posted here. Websites are definitely not my area of expertise so I am open to any suggestions for how to best approach the process. The thought behind what Alex set up is that it is free to have a site there as opposed to the existing site which Bramuel has to pay for.

Kind regards-

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer

Many apologies, I think I am going to have to admit defeat for now - without knowing how pages will fit together, its just not really possible to know what information should be on what page. About all I could do is tidy up the English a bit on the info thats already there...

So once the structure is clear, I will give it another try. Unless of course, you or another volunteer are able to do it with the info that is there now!

That's okay Mary.

I've been trying to work with the site that Alex created today. Alex, I ended up changing the template, so it will look different. I also changed around some of the page titles. It looks like you cannot embed a page within a page, or if you can I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I created different sections for text on the page to help organize information.

There's still a lot that needs to be added to it and I've not transferred all the text because much of it still needs editing. I hope the structure I have in place will make more sense to everyone.

It is located here:

For those who don't know, with a paid version of the site, the advertisement at the top of the page will no longer be there.

Hi Jennifer

Good to see you are making progress, unlike me :-)

Hopefully it won't cost too much to get rid of the ads as it will look much more professional without them.

Tonight I added information about the current hospital staff and with permission added the story currently featured here on Nabuur about how Arrow-Web Hospital teamed up with the Matopeni project to provide medical care to the children there under the News section.

Bramuel-can you please work on a welcome message?

Abey-we looked at cost before Alex set up the freewebs site. This seemed to be a more cost effective option at the time it was discussed.

Pastor Fred-thank you as always for your ongoing support.

Warm Regards- :-)
