Edit and format website content

Status: Finished

Soon there will be a new website for Arrow-Web Hospital. The new website address will be www.arrowwebhospital.org. The new website is not yet posted because Steve, the designer wants to review each page with Bramuel before publishing it. I hope to also have a look before the site goes up as I've not yet seen it.

I will be leaving this task open for now because once it is posted, I would like for you all to have a look and make suggestions, or note any needed corrections. This has been a LONG road, so I know that both Bramuel and I will be extremely happy to have this task finally completed.

Steve has made several of the suggested revisions to the new website. If you haven't had a look in awhile, please go back and review it again to make certain the needed revisions that you identified have been made. If you catch anything new that needs to be fixed, please be sure to post it here. There are still a few things that need adjusted, but overall, I think this is a phenomenal improvement!

Bramuel and I already talked about removing the "how you can help" section since it duplicates the "donations" page. We also talked about removing for now the Calendar of Events since there is nothing planned. I went through tonight from the "Home" page down to "How you can help"-if someone wants to pick up at "Volunteers" and finish looking through the remaining sections that would be great. The suggestions I sent to Bramuel are attached.

If we can get someone willing to compile everyone's suggestions into a word document, Bramuel can take it and review with Steve so the corrections can be easily made. If any of you are willing to do that, please let me know.

Hi Jennifer

Good to see progress - it looks much better with the new pictures.

Assuming someone els does not get there first, I will have a look sometime over the next few days (maybe later today) and put everything together into one document.

Hi Jennifer

I have been through the rest of the site and put my comments, along with those from everyone else, into the attached document. To avoid confusion, I have not included those that have already been fixed.

Hi Jennifer

You are welcome - hope it helps!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a Facebook group for Arrow Hospital? If so, would it be a good idea to put a link to that somewhere on the new website (and somewhere on this site too)? Sorry, have only just remembered this, so did not put it in the review doc.

(one of these days I will get round to joining Facebook!!!)

I didn't even think about that. That's a great idea. For anyone who might be interested, the Facebook group is located here:

Hi Bramuel

I have had another look, and an updated version of the comments doc is attached. It was quite a quick look as I didn't get round to starting until quite late and its now after midnight ehre!

Mary,

Thanks so much for taking another look through the website. Once Bramuel goes through this document and makes the changes, we can review again.

Also-to address the issue of the email address, most of you who have ever emailed Bramuel know that when you emailed him, you also received a bounce notification so it never looked like your email made it to him. The new info@arrowwebhospital.org does not do that anymore and I believe this is the email that Bramuel will be using from now on (correct me if I'm wrong here Bramuel).

Bramuel-one question I have, and I am not registered with MoneyBookers either so I don't know, but wouldn't it be better to use the info@arrowwebhospital.org email address instead of a personal one? Even though you are the project coordinator, I think personal contact information instead of something showing hospital contact information might make some people uncomfortable and unwilling to donate via that method. Again, I'm not sure how it all works, but in reviewing that page, that stuck out to me as something we may want to change if we can.

Bramuel, it also just occurred to me that you might want to consider (if you are not already doing so) asking new patients when they come to the hospital how they heard of you-was it the website, word of mouth, NHIF, etc?? Because the website is an expense you must maintain, you want to know that it is an effective means of marketing for you. Asking new patients how they heard of the hospital is a simple way to find out. The same goes with any marketing tool that you use. You want to identify the most effective means to reach out to your patients and let them know you exist-some may look online and there are probably many more who never will, so I think it's important to keep track of this information so you can make a good decision about whether or not it is an effective tool for you to spend money on.

Does that make sense?

Hi Jennifer

Just a quick thought/question....

Who is the Arrow website aimed at - potential hospital patients and/or potential volunteers, funding organisations etc? At the moment it is very much focused on the latter group I think. Whoever it is aimed at, there may be ways to get it more noticed - promoting websites is not something I know much about, but am sure there will be some neighbours who do!

I would agree with your comment about the email for MoneyBookers - it would look much more official if it could be done via an arrow email address.

Mary-

I just wanted you to know that I'm trying to get clarification from Bramuel as to whether or not he saw your last list with the edits needed on the website. I know some of the things are done, but last I looked, it didn't look like all of the new suggested edits had been made. I will ask him about this again tomorrow, so we can get this task taken care of. I think maybe he's been delayed because he has been ill.

Thanks Jennifer

Bramuel, hope you are feeling better soon!

I looked through the website this morning and it looks like more of the edits have been made. There are still a few spacing errors to be fixed and we need to add that the hospital can accept NHIF cards.

The navigational tabs at the top on the home page seem a little confusing to me. I can't tell if it's because they aren't carried through on the other pages or what it is-something seems not quite consistent with those. Mary, I think you mentioned that earlier, maybe you can explain that better than I can.

Bramuel-I noticed that on the donation page your personal email is still listed there. I really recommend that you change that so that it reflects the info@arrowwebhospital email address.

If everyone can please have another look and let us know anything you find that needs fixed, we'll get that to Steve. Overall, I think he's done a fantastic job in a short time and the hospital can now have a website to be proud of.

I'd like to get this task closed by the end of the month-so everyone's contributions are needed. The more editing eyes the better so we don't miss anything!

Thank you for all of your help that brought us this far! It is very appreciated.

Jennifer
