Help compose a letter of intent

Status: Finished
Step:
2

Recently, Bramuel visited the Japanese Embassy in Kenya to inquire about funding for the new hospital construction. The Embassy in turn sent a representative to visit the hospital. They were very impressed with the overall organization and invited Arrow Web Hospital to submit a letter of intent to the Embassy. If this goes well, they may then be invited to submit a full proposal.

For this task, we are looking for experienced writers who can work with Bramuel to compose the letter of intent. Here are two resources that may be useful to help you get started:

"How to Make Your Letter of Inquiry a Winner"

http://nonprofit.about.com/od/fundraising/a/LOI.htm

This website provides information about what should be included in a good letter of inquiry and provides guidelines for how long the letter of inquiry should be:

Hi Shelley-

Yes, this task is still open. Bramuel, our Local Representative has a draft started (I think). I'll check with him when he gets back to Nairobi. If you are willing to work with him to help get this completed that would be fantastic. I'll get you details (or Bramuel will) as soon as he returns.

Thank you for your offer to help!

Bramuel submitted the attached draft version of the letter of intent the hospital hopes to submit to the Japanese Embassy in Kenya. I have not gone through it in detail, but I do believe that we need to include the financial information from the budget for the construction.

I have asked Bramuel to please schedule time to review the budget with those of you who have offered to help. For this particular task, to those of you who had expressed interest in helping, I am asking that you review, provide editing for English and suggestions for things to delete or add that would make this a strong, quality letter of intent that we can get submitted as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Dear All,
Sorry am confused if the Letter of Intent is a part of the Japanese Grants application process requirement. As for what I found on the Japanese Embassy in Kenya site- http://www.ke.emb-japan.go.jp/ggp.htm. I don't see anywhere they require the letter, its only well structured questionnaires to fill and send to them.

Or if its for other grants from the same we will still do the Letter.

Best wishes,
Raphael

Raphael-

I am confused to. Bramuel and I were discussing this earlier today but he lost power in the midst of our discussion. This task is based around the guidance that Bramuel received from the representative of the Embassy who visited the hospital. Prior to that visit, much of the information you see now on their site was not listed in the same way if my memory serves me correctly.

Bramuel was also provided with a deadline date that is not noted anywhere on their website, however, my biggest concern is that simply submitting a letter of intent will place the hospital at a distinct disadvantage among other applicants because they will have more detailed information at their disposal.

I think that the website used to refer specifically to the letter of intent being submitted and now it is replaced with the application you see...I'm not really sure, but at any rate, I fully believe we have a lot more work to do before we will be ready to submit anything at all.

Hopefully, we will be able to get clarification on this soon. Bramuel had submitted to them before, so I think that prompted the site visit from them to the hospital to determine appropriateness for their grant.

At any rate, I am trying to figure out exactly what we should be doing.

@Jennifer,
Ok.Give us the direction as time is running out fast. The sooner we understand the situation the earlier we will be able to act.

Lets keep on the good work.

Godbless All!
