I wanted to clarify that the website we build will not be hosted on Weebly. It will be hosted on one of our (WebHost Wales) servers. After the development site is completed, we will purchase a domain name for BBSM and move the development site to the live server. This will give BBSM a more professional web presence than a free site hosted on Weebly. It will also allow us to customise any payment processing solutions, or build one from scratch, that work for BBSM (which is a huge issue). O.k., here is a run down of our process. Our programmers work in Agile teams, specifically SCRUM teams. As such, the development of the BBSM site will happen in phases, each phase can be broken down into two parts (requirements gathering and coding). The first part involves members of the nabuur and BBSM community letting us know how they want the site to look and what features/functionality they would like to have. We will put together a "to-do" list from this information and get a final o.k. from Rev. Wasiki and Lia. We will then move into the coding part. During this time, my programmers will code the various requests gathered during the first part of the phase. Any additional requests/changes will be put into a queue to be discussed after the coding is done. To state it another way, I do not alter requirements after we have started coding. Once coding is done, we will update the development site with the new code and discuss any change requests that are in the queue. If the site is ready to go live, then we will purchase the domain and move the code over. If there are additional changes that need to be made, then we will make another "to-do" list and begin another coding session. This phase is repeated until the site is ready to go live. That's our process. I will have a skeleton site on the development server within the next few days that everyone can take a look at. I think we wish to keep the structure simple. We would also like to keep the blog so that there is life to the site; a reason for people to come back. I also think Rev. Wasike wants to keep the other pages of information. Having said that, each of the pages’ content of information needs improving. We need help in this area. What do you want to change? The people who have given us feedback say that the community blog should be “seen” right from the start. Obviously, there has to be a homepage, but we need the visitor to see or find the blog right off. The donor and sponsorship page has to link to viable online payment facilities (need to find one). Mamamikes should also be included (need Rev. Wasike to give student profiles (requirement for paying school fees) and give examples of supplies they need (for school supply gift certificates)). I would also like to set up a section or page where companies (either in Kena or international) who sponsor BBSM can be represented or linked. Rev. Wasike is setting up various projects: e.g. literacy, water and catchment, HIV/Aids, etc. These projects are going to be collaboration with various schools (see songcircle.ning.com), organizations, and individuals. It is a question whether these projects warrant a “project” page, or we just continue with updates in the community blog. Do you have an overriding vision of the colour scheme? Since BBSM is not in Kimilili, a rural area near Mount Egan, perhaps some nature colours indigenous to that area. How do you want visitors to 'feel' when they visit the site? I would like for the site to awaken the people’s interests, the enthusiasm and activity of BBSM come through, that people want to enter in a dialogue, that people want participate in the projects, that people and companies sponsor these activities.
