The Janerose’s VPS is presently making a bid for a contract to supply a government run secondary school with their foodstuff. This contract would require that the Janerose VPS group plant or buy vegetables, beans, maize and then supply these goods to the secondary school for the students’ consumption. The students need a mixture of beans and maize, kale and Ugali. The Janerose group would receive a tender, as well as the timetable and the quantities required per each day they are to meet. If they receive this contract, it would be a big boost to their business.
Even if they do not receive this one particular tender, perhaps it is an interesting venue to follow. For, if the School Garden project includes business training on this sort of business opportunity, it would make the results of the Garden project more sustainable over the long run.
Is there any volunteer in Kenya that could come up with training material for the Janerose group to carry out this supplementary business?

Hi Lia,
Any updates on the bid?

In order to receive the tender, the group has to be able to insure they can meet the demand. This means they have to have a financial buffer to carry the costs until the school is willing to pay their bills. At this moment, we are trying to come up with a financial plan to see if this is viable. Millicent is working on it with the women's co-op.

Hi Lia, hi everybody,
I just came across a great project link you might look at (maybe you know it already) http://www.globalgateway.org.uk/default.aspx?page=4295 This would be an entry point of linking your school to other schools.
Good luck,
Maria
Maria, thank you for the link! Will look into it.
Do you happen to know of any school in urban India that would be interested in participating in a micro-blogging project? This project focuses on two topics of interest; the lives of young women and environmental awareness in urban India. We are hoping to find a girls’ grade 9-12 school classroom interested in participating in this micro-blogging project with a grade 12 class in Luebeck, Germany. The goal of this project is for the girls to have a safe environment (http://www.edmodo.com/) to exchange information amongst themselves about their ideas and opinions concerning these topics.
I could really use some assistance connecting the Luebecker school up with a partner in India!
bye, lia

Hi Lia,
I´ve contacted an Indian friend of mine - let´s see if she knows somebody.
Schönes Wochenende,
Maria
You aren`t very clear on your request,is it just the training material or Plus training coz for entrpreneurial training i can do .I am based in Webuye ,Inside Mkulima Hotel, CHEZ CYBER
Dear Amakobe, Thank you for the offer of doing training. Presently, we have two instructors for entrepreneurial training, but we'll definitely put you on our list. The request above was for someone to actually sort through and edit farming and gardening instructional material and put it in a form the people in Kimilili could use.
Thank you.
best regards,
Lia
