Small-scale Farming Project Plan: Training

Status: Finished
Step:
2

The goal of the Small-scale Farming Project Plan task is to make a practical and well-founded plan for a school garden that provides the most essential food for the school children. The third phase in achieving our goal is to develop training material for the children and teachers. Our core project team (http://www.nabuur.com/en/user/marte/profile) in this work need help to create and complete the following information:

* Recommend methods about how the schoolchildren be involved in the gardening

* Recommend a school program that would educate the schoolchildren about gardening and nutrition

* Create training material that includes educational materials and guideline for teachers about:

* practical aspects like seed, materials, tools etc.
* fertilizing or composting latrines
* irrigation system, if needed
* costs and benefits

We are in need of Nabuur neighbours who have expertise or information about other projects that can help us to get this information for creating training manuals.

We've set up a CBSM Nutrition and School Garden Project website. The website (cbsmgarden.weebly.com) will contain general information about our project, a project blog, and teaching material for the use of CBSM, the Kimilili communities, and other interested schools in Kenya and worldwide. Some of the information contained in the blog posts is published as news updates on the Nabuur site as news updates, was well as the pdf teaching material.

We need help from Nabuur Neighbours to build up a website that is both informative, as well as create a dialog with other schools worldwide; who are interested in setting up their own school gardens. To this end we need people willing to write blog posts, create training manuals, and make animated slide shows or short videos.
