Newsletter #5
Dear neighbours,
Thanks to all the neighbours who joined us recently, we are happy to have you with us and welcome you to Kiserian!
If you haven't already done so, you can get an overview about the village on the background tab of the website. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of Kiserian, please feel free to send a message to Daniel, the local representative, or me.
---------
DEVELOPMENTS
---------
Since the last newsletter, quite a few things have happened in the village:
The Sajos Academy Kiserian closed for school holidays on 8 August and re-opened on 6September 2010
The village is selling bracelets in order to raise funds for the school. They are beautiful, check them out, you might want to get one for your partner or a very good friend!
---------
PROJECTS
---------
Aldo Ferradás sent 4 footballs to Kiserian to support the idea of promoting the sport among young people. Thanks a lot for that, Aldo!
The school is still in urgent need of bedding and volunteer teachers. Please check out the Project Room and feel free to contribute to projects, we are very happy about every idea and contribution to the discussion you make.
Thanks to Ken Hargesheimer for the idea to contact at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Daniel did that. We are waiting for their response now.
Also, BIG THANKS to Anu Menon for summarising key points from the Teach a Man to Fish website, this was very useful to the school, and Daniel started working on the ideas.
The village also came up with an additional idea to raise money: They are planning to write a magazine and shoot a video about their everyday life, which they can then sell. The profit should hopefully enable the Sajos Academy Kiserian to buy their own land and to build a school building. Having their own land enables them to grow food and plants that can be sold, or even keep animals. An own school building means that they don't have to pay rent and can thus invest the money in growing and improving the school.
For this project, though, many items are still needed, so we are happy about ideas on how the school could get these for a low price, or even for free.
---------
Finally, we would like to thank all our active neighbours for their engagement and good work!
Please contact me if you have any comments or questions, or if you need help.
Hoping that together, we will be able to make a difference in Kiserian.
